When I lived in Korea the last time, there was a great place to shop called "Myeongdong Department Store". There were multiple floors of clothes that were reasonably priced for both men and women. I noticed it has now turned into a 3 floor Uniqlo. Does anyone know of anywhere like this store? I'm not into bargaining at places like Migliore/Doota and this place had price tags on everything. It was one place where my fiance and I could shop together.

There used to be two outlet stores on the third floor of YES apm right by Idae station. The building was recently remodeled and should have opened by now (I saw them putting the clothes back out). I haven't checked yet, but I hope that store is still there. They only had female clothes though. (Bigger shoes too!! Up to Euro 41 in some sizes ^^)
There is an Andew/TBJ/Buckaroo outlet store in Myeongdong. I have only been there once and can't really give you directions, I know it is behind and to the side of Forever21.
Forever21 has trendy clothes for kinda cheap. I have noticed the prices have been increasing though. There are clothes for men on the second floor.
Uplex, a new building in Shinchon (connected to the Hyundai Department store) has events, as does lotte and hyundai. These 'events' are actually really good, I got some jeans for 60% off, they also have sales. Look in the basement floors, the better prices are there. The upper floors are the actual stores. It is also connected to an underground shopping center that has events too. They change every week, I believe.
If you find any more, let me know. I'm always hunting for a better deal ^^ |

I really like UniQLO - nice basics and the quality is much better than Forever 21, mango and H&M. Very reasonable prices too. |

The sale bin at HomePlus. "Fri Sun Sat" or "Florence and Fred" are pretty cheap.
Or online. |

Check out the basement floor of the technomart at Gangbyeon near Jamsil on the green line. They have a store just as you describe with prices listed.
Don't know if you're a guy or a girl (or your size), but I have my Korean friend order me T-Shirts off the internet. These are guys one size fits all T-Shirts that you'd typically find in miligore etc. 3 for 7000 won. |

M Plaza in Myeongdong has some different stores. Some have good prices on clothing (men's and women's).
Also, HomePlus and EMart usually have sales on. |

Isn't Uniqlo pretty much the gold standard for cheap fashionable clothing? |

R U serious. Not to knock you, that is an over priced interpretation of what used to be highly affuent executive business and golf styles in the West years ago. Well, it's not an exact imitiation of Western styles, it's upscale Korean fashion. The big crests and other classic fancy details seem very outdated to me. That stuff is not cut to fit and look good on us so I'm not paying those prices for their polo style with big crests. It's Ok I suppose, but the cut, sizing, and colors are obviously not geared to a Western clientele. I can't find anything I'd wear at Lotte either. There really is a huge difference in fashion designing between the East and West despite both having a Western style going on.
I'd say head to Itaewon and Namdaemun for something to wear. I'm in need of polo style and short sleeve button shirts. |

"cheap, but fashionable" <---- Doesn't exist.
If you buy cheap, you look cheap. Simple as that.
What you eat and what you wear, these are the two areas when you don't want to penny pinch. |

I agree to a point. At the moment I'm wearing a 100 dollar shirt and 20 dollar khakis (and $2 slippers). Is it possible to tell the difference between 20 dollar khakis and $200 ones? I don't think so as long as they fit properly (which they do).
Cheap clothing doesn't necessarily mean low quality. Many classic styles of clothing can be got cheap. Oxford shirts, khakis, woolen sweaters come to mind. Sometimes a non label (read cheaper) item in these styles can be as good. Conversely, expensive clothing can be low quality. It is priced highly simply because it is "designer".
I agree about food though. |

I think I mentioned in the OTs that I've been getting good vibes from New Core. It's set up with different brands/shops and everyday different ones have sales of up to 80% discount. I don't know where you can find New Core other than to say there is definitely one in Bucheon near the Hyundai Dept. Store & The Mall.
If you're a smaller female, the underground is good for pants and skirts and such IMO. Basically shop the sale rack whereever you go is my advice. |
