| Mine are going anything from 3kbs to 800 kpbs. I did something really cool last night. I turned my laptop into a portable Sony Playstation and started Final Fantasy IX. A 987MB 4 CD huge game downloaded in 30 minutes. Youtube is noticeably slow where videos stop and often take much longer to load than torrents whether at home, in the office, or classroom. |

| Torrent is ridiculously fast here. Get like 5MBps download rate...downloading an 800MB movie file takes like 5-10 min. |
good lord, i'd die if i could get those speeds. i'm averaging around 80 to 150 kilobytes a second on most of my torrents from public sites isohunt, the pirate bay, and extra torrent.
when i download something i feel like i'm back in the old 56k modem days where i start it and leave the house for the and hope its done when i get back. es horrible!!!!
one of these days i'm going to try and sit down and try and reverse my port forward, but i'll be moving soon and will probably run into problems again so i might just wait. |
I'm also using public torrents.
I'm running Apple Time Capsule wireless network with KT. Using Transmission BT for Mac OS X. Last night i downloaded anime (700MB) per file at around 5 min. |

| Noice. This isn't torrent related, but I was downloading some of my games off Steam at a steady 8.7-9.7mbps. Oh yeah, I love the internet in Korea. |

Most torrents will download at 10% of your actual internet speed. e.g. your internet speed is 8mbp/s your torrents could download at 800kbp/s.
This is based on optimum conditions, ie. there being a good seeders to leechers ratio (you may have seen 3000 seeders listed but how many leechers were there?) and those seeders you're connected to not capping their upload rate, or actually having a decent upload rate.
I usually use private trackers like The Box, Waffles, Demonoid, etc and the best I get is around 5mbp/s, on a 45-50mbp/s connection. |
Really? 8-10mbs? is this a home or company internet connection your getting those speeds from?
I find that hard to believe your getting 8 mbs.. take a screen shot of your torrent client showing those speeds and prove me wrong. |

Yea from Korean sites I get 4mbps or higher.
Torrent speeds are fine, especially if I am leeching from a fellow esl teacher in Seoul who also happens to like the stuff I like.
Usually from 300k to over 1mbps depending on how popular the stuff is that I am downloading. |

Many people, including myself get these speeds (10 megabytes/second)from their home connections, and have proven it here in the past. There's no need to do so again. |

| I've had speeds of over 9mbps on a few occasions. It all depends who is uploading to you. |

ahh... i c.
I assume those speeds are from within the country. No way you would get those speeds from a site outside korea.. if so, prove it with a screen shot.. takes a minute to do. otherwise words dont carry any weight!
When i did a search i couldnt find any members posting links to show screenshots.. how else can one prove it?
For sure if the download is coming from someone WITHIN Korea then I believe those speeds, but outside i don't think so. |

| I'm having issues with my torrent trackers loading. When I start the torrent it takes as long as two hours for the trackers to update and start the download. Once it starts, my speeds are decent, but I don't know why it's taking so long to load. It's only on my home computer too, on other computers the trackers load up instantly. Has anyone else had this problem? |

It all depends who is uploading to you.
I've had over 9mbps from a few different torrent sites. Private sites are usually better because they have a lot more seeders who are happy to upload to keep their ratio. That's all.
Who knows where the actual users uploading to you are located? They could be from anywhere in the world...but of course it helps speeds a lot if one of the leechers/seeders is in Korea. |

I peaked at 7 MBps but couldn't grab the screenshot in time...but you can see these are all public torrents and NOT within Korea at all. I don't think you could sustain 10MBps to a public torrent for a long time though - that's a bit far-fetched...but you could definitely hit it.
