I've tried searching Dave's for some up to date threads on this but there doesn't seem to be anything past 2008. I'm looking for a good place in Seoul / Incheon to buy cheap gym supplies like protein shakes, creatine, ZMA, aminos and vitamins.
I've seen a few old threads saying Namdaemun underground market was a good place to go but when I checked that place out last weekend the choice was pretty limited (only one guy I could find selling stuff and he didn't have a lot of what I wanted). If I can't buy stuff in a store, is there a good mail order site in Korea that stocks these products? One of my co-teachers could probably help me order.
Thanks in advance! |

Not sure about mail-order stores in Korea, but I know that netrition will ship to Korea. You just have to click past their warning about import restrictions in South Korea.
You'll get reamed on shipping, and you'll also have to pay an import tax on orders over either 100,000 or 150,000 won... I can't remember which.
I pretty much stick with protein powder, which you can get from little GNC outlets (there's one in my local E-Mart, and expect to get reamed here too), but if you want that other fancy stuff (I don't even know what ZMA is), my guess is that you'll have to order from overseas.
I do think that there is a mail-order site in Korea, but I don't have the details on that. I was actually warned by a Korean co-worker last year to stay away from Korean-made gym products. He didn't trust them, and therefore neither do I.
Good luck. |

bodybuilding.com also ships here. There's duty if it's over 100,000원 and you can't ship more than six bottles (of anything). But it's reasonably priced for shipping and cheap for supplements. And fast!! Highly recommended. |

www.bb.co.kr
is a good price comparison website that works some of the time to find random things for me - most are online sites type in what you want and you should find things like creatine easily |

There's a place at Shinsoldong station with what looks like protein powder in the window. It's like a tiny hole in the wall gym or something. Just go out Exit 1 and walk about 20m north to find it. |

In Korea, you've got a few choices. Here are a couple of the better ones.
http://www.mass119.com/
http://www.speedns.co.kr/
I order my Optimum Nutrition Solid Gold Whey Protein from mass119. Delivery is 10,000 Won and it'll be at your door in 3 days. Good prices, too.
And just in case you're interested in purchasing good quality kettlebells in Korea:

Costco has Weider whey protein, 32,000 won for 1,020 grams. Probably the best deal outside of going to a base (if you have a friend with access). |

Thanks for this mate, the prices on those sites are great. I'm going to have a go with one of my co-teachers at ordering some stuff. |

I ordered from speedns.com with the help of a Korean coworker as a guest. I got a text message saying that there was a problem with the order. The emails/number on the speedns page do not work. Does anyone know how I can contact them? |

That stuff is terrible. It's very difficult to mix and has that chalky taste that protein powders USED to have but most no longer do. |

I've used both mass911 and speednds and prefer speednds. Shipping time is really fast and prices aren't too bad either (I buy Gold Standard products). Buying it in Yongsan base is always the cheapest way if you have connections there. |

So today I had a go at ordering some stuff of these sites.
speedns.co.kr doesn't work on any browser I've tried it with (Opera, Firefox, Explorer . There seems to be some problem with the sites' flash coding. All I get is some big advert for special offers which I cant close.
mass119 asks me for my name and resident number to sign up for an account. I input the details, but it keeps saying the last 7 digits of my resident number are incorrect (they can't be, as I'm looking directly at my ARC card as I input them). Can waegooks not sign up for this site? Will I need to get a Korean friend to set up an account? |
