|
|
Just curious --- does anyone have experience on getting another 3 months stay in South Korea as a EU passport-holder by leaving the country (e.g. to Japan) and then re-entering? This person has been in Seoul for around 2 months so far and was give an initial 90 day stay.
Do they automatically give you another 3 months when you leave S. Korea for a few days, then re-enter? Or is this route going to be very difficult? |

If the country you're from is under teh visa waiver program, then the length of your stay restarts everytime you leave and reenter. Even if you only left for a day the cycle starts over. |

Does S. Korea not have a "Maximum 6 month stay in a 12 month period" rule like the EU does?
It sounds like a lot of people have been doing visa runs every 90 days and been okay in general? |

I've heard of people staying in Korea for years on a tourist visa by simply leaving and re-entering, so I'm guessing they don't have that clause...or they simply don't check... |

I've heard the same. Canadians are on easy street with that since they get 6 months. I'd heard about a Canadian who did it for 3 years before he went home. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again- it is NO PROBLEM!
I've done it many many times before and it's fine. You can leave the day your tourist stamp expires and come back, well, the same day if you want, but in a couple of days usually. You'll get a new 90 day tourist stamp and you're ready to go for another 3 months. |

They do NOT have that restriction.
You are free to come, go and re-enter at will and you will get a new 90 day period each time you leave and return.
The only requirement is that you LEAVE before your 90 days is up. You can return the same day / next flight if you want just as long as you have left on time.
IF you do it multiple times then immigration may ask how you are supporting yourself without working. An address and an acknowledged girlfriend who is supporting you during your stay in Korea are usually adequate.
