The Korean Herald and the Korean Times are TERRIBLE!
Both these papers are terrible, although not as bad as in the Texas where it is basically Bad Korean newpaper + Right Wing propagnda.
That said, the above mentioned newspapers are really poor. None of the articles say anything! A todays article on the first gay marriage could have been written like a New York Times piece. What about family, history, problems with gay openness...?
Also, the economics section drives me bannas. Everyday the page has about 3 or 4 articles on new Korean products that read like ADs...I could go on and on. Really! |

I agree. They are terrible. That's why I subscribe to the International Herald Tribune, which comes with the Joon Ang Daily. I recommend the IHT if you're looking for a decent newspaper. |

how long did you take you to realize that seoulmon.
I see these newspapers as one big advertorial for Samsung, hyundae and LG. it appears that way sometimes. The only good thing is the Korean sports are in English(but my Korean is now at the point where i can Korean sports newspapers).
If you want what i think its pretty decent Korean news then look at www.chosun.com and go to the English section. I like that paper. |

The Times is considerably better than the Herald if you are going to chose between either of them. Their foreign section is much better.
Plus, with a hangover, both make light reading in the morning on the subway. |

You will be happy to hear that the Korea Herald will be getting much better soon. It was reported on the front page both Monday and Tuesday that the Herald will be (has already?) hiring foreign journalists.
(I'm trying very hard not to be skeptical or cynical. I hope the journalists have more experience than some other foreigners who get jobs in Korea.)
We can only hope it helps.
On the topic of the Herald:
Maybe it's a mistaken impression on my part, but...It seems to me that the woman who writes a column on Wednesdays (?) used to be gung ho for Roh. Then he barred Herald reporters from some kind of meeting. Since then she hasn't had a good word to say about him on any topic. Has anyone else gotten that impression? |

since we all have internet, there is really no need for either unless you need something to read on the subway or bus... |

Lots of posters use PC bangs to post from, and others have a billion and three freetalking classes a day and a non functioning printer at work. Sad as it is, there is a need. |
