Hey folks. I'm in a bit of a rush here.
I have a student I'm tutoring. He's got some serious learning disorders. The biggest one being dyslexia(or something similar). He really mixes up his letters and is struggling with his phonics.
I'm pretty good at teaching phonics and a lot of mom's bring me their kids to study reading. I'm having a tough time with this poor little fella.
does anyone now of any good strategies, or know of any good links that can help me out.

| I am dyslexic; in school, there was a pretty clear divide between the subjects I was really good at (English, History, Art) and the ones I could not pass at gunoint (Math, Chemistry, Spanish). Odds are this kid you're teaching has a higher-than-average IQ and a lower-than-average aptitude for foreign languages. But some of what you're teaching (vocabulary, but not spelling or pronunciation, but not grammar) is getting through to him. The rest is, for now, outside your control and his. Can you chart how well he handles specific skill sets? |
