No. The point was the exact opposite. The doctor was being fair, dampening the "I don't need glasses anymore!" angle. He's saying you'll likely need reading glasses in your 40s or 50s, whether or not you get your eyes zapped. |

Thanks for clarifying. Not too worried about eventually having to whip out the reading glasses to read stuff, but it would be nice to wake up with near perfect vision.
Is this doable over a weekend? Let's say surgery on Friday, recover and deal with the pain Sat. and Sun., then back to work on Monday? |

| I'm scheduled for LASEK at Dream Eye Center in Gangnam at the end of June. Luckily I'll have about 6 days off. They told me my myopia is so bad, combined with my astigmatism, that LASIK was not an option, only LASEK, and that a 2nd surgery wouldn't be an option if the first one doesn't correct it completely. But they were very thorough with the testing and explained everything well, so I decided to schedule it. |

I just had Lasek at the Dream Clinich in Gangnam on Friday, so excuse the typos. THe procudeure was easy, I was put in a green quilted robe, told to lie on the operating table, they covered me with a blanket and gave me slippers. They said it took 7 minutes for each eye, but it seemed faster.
They pried my eyes open, one at a time and did the surgery, the only weird part was when I saw lots and lots of red lights, and also when they did the actual laser. Hold your breath, becuase it smeels like burnt hair.
Afterwards, I was taken to a room to lie down for 30 minutes. They had the lights on , but relzxing music in the background. The room on the bed next to me was snoring within minutes,
I could see better than before and took the bus back to Suwon. They had given me 6 tylonel ERs and I was told to take two after the srugery, two after dinner and two before bed. I finsihed the surgery and resting at around 4pm. I took two pills, had dinner and took two more.
I spent the night at a friend's who had had lasik surgery before and said it would be horrible for me to spend it in pain, alone, since my hsuabnd still isn't here.
Anyways, I saw my face in the elevator and my cheecks were bright red, so I didn't take the rest of the pills.
The night was fine, no pain, I wore the eye shields at night and when I took them off, my face was covered in tears. No pain at all, but my eyelids felt heavy, and it was hard to keep them open.
So on Saturday, I wore sunglasses all over and sleep most of the day. Saturday night was the worst, I was up every 15 niutes from midnight to 5am, and finally caved and took an aspirin., then I was fine.
Sunday I went out with friends, but still colnd't see 20/20.
Now' it's Monday and I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow to get my protective contacts taken out. I'm frustrated that I can't see 20/20 and I hope that it gets beetter. They said it could take up to 2 weeks. As it is now, I'm wearing sunglasses all the time.
Hopefully my vision will get to 20/20. |

Thanks, blakjack, I got your advice and I searched online a lot for the information.
I decided to get a LASEK done instead of LASIK, although all pre-operation examinations showed I had a pair of strong eyes that I could choose all methods.
I had the operation three days ago, same procedure as all described previously, now I can see very well.
But the second day after the surgery was so much in pain, I couldnt stand it and had to visit the doctor, it turned out I might have some infection, so they gave me an anti-biotic injection and I also took some pain killers.
I spent 1.5M by the way, in an eye clinic in Busan, which did all eye surgery for the baseball players in Lotte Giants. |
Could you let us know the name of the clinic and it's locations, I'm in Busan and considering getting "fixed" sometime this summer. |

Just be patient. Takes a little time but it does get there. |

Actually, the dr said it would go up in steps and not gradually. Today I see pretty much perfectly I have another check up on Wed. |

| I noticed Dream Eye center has offices in both Myeongdong and Gangnam, and most posters here have gone with the Gangnam clinic. Is it the same surgeons at both locations? |

| My concern is that with my very bad eyesight the recovery time, and pain will all be quantified. I sit in front of a computer at work all day so i'm worried that i won't be able to work for awhile since people are saying it took them a good week to really recover...and my eyes are already sensitive to light, i wonder how bad it will be after the surgery. |

Hey i'm going to be getting LASEK eye surgery this friday night @ Dream Eye Centre in Gangnam...will post a followup soon. apparently my eyes are perfect candidate for surgery -3 vision with no myopia or astagmatisms however it's spelt lol. Hopefully everything is cool...I need my eyes to be better for a trip to China on Sept 19...fingers crossed!
I will def. post my surgery experience there and the recovery process. I found past threads to be very informative. |

This has been done to death, but I'll add a twist:
Does anyone a reputable clinic in Busan with a "lifetime guarantee" deal similar to the Dream Eye clinic? (Very possible that grad school with its heavy reading requisite's in the stars for me)
[Thanksgiving's coming up and I can't think of a better time for recovery than that. No off-time spent? C'mon!] |
