Hey Everyone,
I've been offered a job in Daegu which I accepted. I've been in touch with my recruiter and she and I took the required steps to start ASAP.
I signed the contract, filled out all of the paperwork, sent everything UPS to the school and I'm waiting on my Visa number. I was told it would be 7-10 days in order to process it and then I would be having the interview with my consulate.
The tenth day was on Friday and I'm worrying that my job may have been given away. In the contract that I signed, the start day was the 20th of May and it is now the 23rd.
Should I be worried?

7-10 days of processing UPON RECEIPT by the school; often schools don't take the paperwork directly down to immi
anyway, do you know for sure it's been 10 days since the school received it?
also, everything is always "asap" doesn't mean it's actually done that way.
just give them a ring and ask the status. |

UPS said they delivered it to the school on May 10th. It's been at least ten business days so I'm starting to wonder.
I will contact my recruiter again - contacted her Friday and heard nothing back - this week.
Any ideas? |

I'm in a similar situation. My documents arrived in Korea two weeks ago and I haven't heard back yet. I'm supposed to start June 1, which is a week from Tuesday |

The only time a school is going to do that in a hurry is when they need you in a hurry.
Me and my bf sent ours over and they didnt register the documents for about a week, but then they needed us so it was pressure and emails to us all the way, as if we could have done something to speed up immigration on our side!
And then when we arrived they told us they only wanted one of us to start straight away and the other one in a month when another teacher was finished! |

ok, I see I'm not being clear, sorry. the papers go to the school, yes, but then the school still has to take them to the immi office - which is not always done immediately, sometimes only once a week. so when I said "UPON RECEIPT" that's by the immi office, not your school.
there's also holidays, sports days, etc., all in there to be considered. hang in there unless your degree is from some odd-funny school "J&B's Best Teachers and Miners in the Rockies" hey hey then I'd worry. |
