So, is not knowing who Minor Threat is an example of hipster ironic snarkiness or do you really not know? Internets make it hard to tell.
Hipsters can be a welcome change if you live in a small town. But seriously, where the Straight-Edgers at in Korea? |
I don't think a straight edge kid would last a second living in this alcohol filled peninsula. LOL the thought of a Straight Edge scene kid getting his ass handed to him by an adjosshi. |
there was a bane/ceremony show this past weekend in seoul, and the geeks are a korean sxe band, go to places like that, there are edge kids in seoul. |

It's not about hating on someone because they are wearing a certain kind of shoes or shirt or whatever, that's just stupid. That's for high school kids.
It's all about how a person acts, and their mindset and what their ideals and philosophies are.
And these days, most hipsters are just sheep. Without strong ideals. And if they do have strong ideals, it's like they are basically blindly copying cookie-cutter liberalism or trends. Their clothes are merely an outward manifestation of their sheepish personalities and self-absorbed narcisism.
But truely, most of them are just in it for a cheap party and that's it. And I think that's why lots of people hate them. Also there is the fact that lot's of them act like snobs if you aren't as "hip" and "enlightened" as they are. They are on a high horse for sure.
Counter-culture used to be much more about ideals, philosophies, being down with something, or being part of a real movement of some kind.
Now the hipsters are just all about fashion, partying, popularity and trends. |
Young people into fashion, partying, popularity, and trends?!!?
What has the world come to? |

Young people into fashion, partying, popularity and trends...ok that's cool.
But don't try to put a counter-culture label on these things, there's nothing counter-culture about them. |

Not to drag out a tired thread, but...
Just for fun:

The Ceremony and Geeks show in Seoul was fresh. It's a tough row to hoe livin' outside of Seoul.
Also, aren't most of the original SXE people older than 15? Like 35-ish?
Anyways, Korean college students definitely got the hipster style down: skinny jeans, New Balance sneakers, ironic band t-shirts, oversized glasses. Too bad they listen to k-pop. |

yeah hipsters suck. they are stupid and pretentious.
There far more preferable than hippies.
And yeah their fashion is stupid and largely the same. But at least
that whole rap/hip hop fashion trend is slowly dying out.
i.e baggy jeans, ridiculously oversized t shirt, and baseball cap kept
flat alla make a wish foundation.
Jesus that shit was going on nearly 20 years..... |

Both hippies and hipsters rely on that trust fund check, which makes them equally as worthless as human beings. |
