|
|
My co-teacher just told me that Gepik schools have been asked to put forward 600 teachers for a second residential orientation (three days two nights) at the end of June this year.
In the name of all that is holy, please tell me you think this is a mistake. |

Mine too. I'm wary. I don't mind in some ways...but really...I can't be bothered with the hassle of Orientation. The first time I didn't have anything much else to do...but now...I've got responsibilities and all that guff. |

This has been threatened to me too..
Gonna do everything i can to avoid it if it's optional..the first one nearly destroyed my will to live. And aside from a 1 hour Korean lecture, I certainly didn't come away from it with anything useful. |

Just been told about this. My c/t says everyone has to do 6 hours of training each year now, and this counts. Last year, they told people they could leave if the orientation was no use to them. Hopefully, they'll do the same this year, and it'll just be a nice day off work. |

Please god let this be true.
Please.
And yes, I agree with other posters. Aside from the Korean Culture/Language portions, I really didn't learn a whole lot. |

LOL did they really tell you all that at orientation, or is it a slight exaggeration? |

I agree about not giving students candy. I mean...if you know your role they should be happy enough without it.
My main problem with all of this is that it's during the World Cup. I mean...I'm not gonna spend two nights in shared accomodation with someone during the World Cup. It's just not gonna happen.
If they do it some other time...I don't give a rats toss bag. I'll go. I'll participate. I may even learn. But hold it during the World Cup? No chance.
Sorry. |

This. It's funny how many people are complaining. Just sleep through the lectures, nobody will care. |

At the orientation this April they had Simon and Martina from Eat Your Kimchi present. Made the whole 3 days worth it. |

The wed/thu/fri of that week are finals at my school. I usually give self study time before finals, so it'll be less work to sleep in my own air-conditioned bedroom and not eat the slop they inevitably serve at these things for 3 days. Plus, it's world cup time! |

I also found out about this today. Do we have to sleep over there? I have pets that I don't feel like boarding. That's my only complaint Otherwise I'm looking forward to it. |

I was informed yesterday and had to make a decision yesterday.. as my co-teacher had to have all the documents in by today~
Apptly you don't have to go( for GEPIK anyway) .. although yes.. you do get 3 days off.. hence a 5 day weekend... last year's one for GEPIK was decent... met some new people ... I was given the option to go again this year..but told is not compulsory...I'd rather not go and not have to make up missed afterschool classes ~ Keep on the good side of my VP too LOL
Hope you guys have fun there~ ! |

I think we have to go...
District Coordinator told me it was part of our mandatory 36 hour training they push on EVERYONE
But I am ready to go!
Any time out of my dust-filled/asbestos/leaky/new wing building a gym that nobody wants or needs school is appreciated and anticipated |
