Hey everyone, I am looking at two positions. One is in Bundang and another is in Anyang, near Beomgye. Does anyone have anything to recommend one area over the other. This is very subjective, I know, but I am just interested in your opinions. Thanks in advance.

It's quite simple really. Bundang hands down!
Bundang is close to Seoul and is a swanky affleunt neighbourhood only 30 minutes from Itaewon.
Anyang is ghetto. |

Bundang is NOT a city, it is a district within Seongnam city.
It would matter greatly depending on WHERE in Bundang you are located.
Close to the yellow line is great.
Out near the border with Gwangju (opo-eup) would suck unless you have your own wheels.

Like mentioned above, Bundang is quite large so it depends more specifically where you are, but generalizing:
- the buildings are newer and cleaner
- lots of parks around
- a major subway line connecting to Seoul runs through it
- the air is cleaner
- the ground is cleaner
- there is less of a sewage stink
- there are hundreds of hakwons, therefore foreigners |

beomgye/anyang is clean, convenient and 20-40 mins away from Seoul. 20 mins to get to chongshindaeipgu and 45 mins to get to itaewon. and has 2 subway lines running through it. It's a pretty comfortable place. |

Anyang's rent/전세 prices are a lot more affordable than Bundang's prices from what I've gathered. However, I guess it wouldn't matter to the average waygook...you'll be chilling in your overlord..oops..I mean 원장님's pimped out one room for free!!!! |

Agree, and lots of foreigners is a bad thing, for me. I can't spend more than a few hours in Itaewon, for example, without wishing I could just leave the rambunctious, rowdy Whities. I'm becoming racist against my own kind. Though I always did hate us.
I haven't been Bundang, but I am sure you wouldn't regret Anyang should you choose it - Unless the place you work turns out to be sucky, which is the main point. The rest is what you make of it. |

Agreed, although it does depend on where in Bundang. Many of the stops on the yellow line are "new cities" (Jeongja, Yatap, Imae etc.) and thus rent is expesive. While some are older (Taepyeong).
What this means for you is whatever your school's housing stipend is, will get a (slightly) smaller apartment in a more expensive area.
I'm in one of the richer areas of Bundang and it is clean but boring and a lot of people are wealthy and snobby. Planning to move a few stops away to a cheaper, older area, that has a lot more energy and excitement. |

If all else were equal, I'd take Anyang. |
