So it looks like mosquito season is upon us and my apartment doesn't have any screens in the windows. I'd like to keep my delicious type O negative blood all to myself. Does anyone know where I can buy screens or have them made for my place in Ansan?
One little problem; (difficult to explain) my windows have handles to lock/unlock and then you need to push the whole window out. So a screen in front will block access to the handle and you can't put a screen behind it. It would need to be something that you can easily remove to open and close the window.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

| I was just about to make a similar thread. Does anyone know where you can buy just simple screen like a small roll. For a small odd shapen window in my laundry room. |

you can buy mosquito nets at any hardware store. they'll also come with some plastic/rubber adhesive so you can put up the net and take it off anytime you want (kind of a pain in the ass though). in my experience, it didn't work too well. in my case, my officetel had two windows. one with a screen, the other (identical one) without. talked to the budongsan. their answer was it was a policy to have a screen on only one window. whatever.
i lived on the 11th floor but they still got in all the time. and they actually were coming from OUTSIDE. closed window = no bugs. |

The tenant before me had a pretty bad setup with just a piece of screen in front of the window and an 'access panel' cut into it to open the handle. However, it had seen quite a bit of use and was pretty ineffective. I wouldn't mind investing in a real, metal frame screen but don't know the first place to start looking or if they even exist out here. |

One of the most baffling design concepts ever, at least to me. I dunno, maybe there's some law of thermodynamics and ventilation at work that the rest of the world hasn't figured out yet.
Anyway, I had the same problem. I bought a mosquito net, measured pieces to cover the windows, and used magnet tape to seal them. Worked like a charm. |

Buy a mosquito net (like for over the bed), cut it to fit and tape it over your window with masking tape (from your local alpha or other stationary store.
The moggie nets are about 2000-5000 won and you can find them in the cheap housewares departments of major department stores like lotte-mart (where we got ours) e-mart, home plus and cheaper ones in the chun-won stores.
The same would probably be a quick fix for the OP compared to getting custom screens made for his window.

| Just so you know most mosquitoes do not fly higher than 25ft. If there are mosquitoes in your high rise apartment it's because it got tracked in on the back of a human or in a plant. |

Sorry, but I've had them come in through the window on the 11th floor. In fact, they WILL attack me even now that I'm on the 15th floor if I do not use my screen. they must live in some vents or something, but trust me, it can happen. Screen or closed window = never a mosquito. Highrises will not always save you. |

Ha! I did the same thing in my old officetel but used velcro instead! (Alas, my window frames weren't magnetic.) Worked pretty well.
I remember seeing advertisements around my old building for a company offering to make custom-sized screens. I think they were something like 80,000won each. Ask the maintenance office for a contact. |

Thanks I was thinking that, and guess that'll be the way I got. The laundry room gets pretty dank without being able to open the window. |

yeah, i mean, by that logic, there'd be no mosquitoes on mountains. there are plenty of breeding grounds built into shoddy officetels. |

ive got some "Dae Sang Tech Roll" screens that I assume were installed when the building was made. you jsut roll them down after you open the window and they click in to place
seems to work well as I havent had a mosquito yet and im only on the 5th floor |
