what's the deal? can i get a tourist visa? i read somewhere here that the day i land is when the E2 starts, which doesn't make much sense. what about my ARC? it's not likely i'll be working illegally - i'm coming earlier to save some cash. what's sydney airport and/or the immigration desk at the airport here in korea going to say?
help? |

If the E2 is IN your passport when you land you will activate it on entry.
You cannot enter as a tourist with a valid entry visa in your passport.
Your ARC must be applied for and obtained within 90 days of your entry on your visa. It takes about 1 week to process after you have had your medical.
Sidney airport won't care and neither will Korean immigration. You have a valid visa to enter the country.
NOW the caveat.
IF you enter 1 month early your problem will arise 11 months from now when you need to extend your visa to coincide with the completion date on your contract.
Not a problem BUT it will mean some paperwork (about 7 pieces - ARC, passport, contract (with end date clearly marked), school's business registration, letter to confirm continued employment (certificate of employment), letter of guarantor/sponsorship from your employer, application, and 30k won for the extension.
no worry mate...
