Hi
Ive recently returned to ROK and have been on the look out for a phone. I now realise that Korea uses SIM cards too now - so do I need a new phone ? Or can I just put a korean SIM into the UK phone I brought ?

No, you need to buy a new phone - your one from the UK can only be used for "global roaming" at some rather exorbitant rate (about 3k won per minute). |

It might be worth looking into. Back when the iPhones first hit Korea, it was said that any unlocked iPhone would work if you got it registered with one of the government departments. I think it cost 300,000 won. I guess this may still hold true today. But a new iPhone on the plan, would cost you around 300,000 won after the two year contract. So if you want an iPhone, it may be better to get a new one. |
