Just came across this will updating my blog. It's the second game I've come across that has a full English version available. After you've installed it, on first launch you can hit options and choose English as the language for text and voices.

The game is called Unit and is part of the Gamebus portal.

foreigners can create accounts there using your ARC or I-PIN. Sign-up and the page are still in Korean.

You can read more about the game, gamebus and the I-PIN at my blog or go directly to the Unit site above to get started.

The game is currently in open beta, so you can get in on the ground floor.

Hey. I like your blog. Smile

Thanks for turning me onto the I-PIN. I think it will really help.

The I-PIN has been moderately useful so far. There have been a couple sites I was able to sign-up for that I couldn't without it. The only issue is a few Korean sites that don't accept roman letter names, or their name field is too short. It can still choke on those, like netmarble.

I've asked the i-pin company if its possible for us to create a korean name to associate with it to be passed to the site, but I haven't heard much of a response from them yet. If you use the I-Pin the sites don't actually get your ID number, so they'd have no idea we were foreigners if the site would pass a korean name to the registration form.

It let's me play Sudden Attack with my own account. That in itself is a major victory for I-Pin. Laughing

Glad to hear you're updating your blog again...I used to check it before you stopped upadating (around the end of last year, maybe?) - it was very interesting. Cheers for the news!

Yeah there wasn't too much out around the end of last year. Some MMORPGs but all the shooters and other accessible games I was waiting for seemed to be stuck in never ending beta. My Korean isn't really good enough at this point to just be reading random gaming news so it was a little hard for me to find stuff, but I've refined my searches and now I've got a pretty good backlog that should keep it updated for a bit.

Company of Heroes just came out on a Korean portal which is great. It's slightly different than the original, but you get free access to the single player campaign. It's only the multiplayer component that's been tweaked to allow for building a "character"

Though because of the coverage I did on TKOnline last October, I'm actually going up to Mobicle's (the developers) office in the very near future to take a tour and interview them about the game. I'm hoping that'll lead to access to a few more companies.

http://jeonsa.blogspot.com/2010/05/weekend-with-unit.html

last weekend I decided to put more time into this game as I was enjoying it more than I expected. It's turned out to be a pretty decent game. The only draw back is the insanely slow start time when you first load the game. It borders on the ridiculous but once it's up and going the game play is decent.

Seems like a clone of "Sudden Attack". Even looks the same and armory works the same. I didn't think much about SA and why everyone plays it even though it's an old game but now i see. It's very easy to pick up, fun, and i don't get bored of it. Some of the maps are unbalanced especially for attacking. It's much easier to just kill the other team rather than try to plant the bomb.

Your blog has been extremely helpful in getting an i-pin account. My only problem is that both nexon and netmarble gives me a name error when I try to make an ID with them. Man...it's so frustrating trying to play games in Korea. I just want to play some mmorpg or something...sigh.

Nexon won't work at all, they currently don't allow foreign sign-up. Netmarble isi probably failing because your name is too long. If your real name is more than 14 letters netmarble will fail. They know about it and intend to fix it, we're just not sure when.
