|
|
Just wondering as I am about to finish my year and the tickets I have found for the dates I want are over 2 million. I came in through a connection, and have never been sent to an orientation. My handler also seems to find things slightly cloudy re: the ins and outs of airfare. The previous foreign teacher didn't get his because he stayed longer than 10 days, and I was on the ground when they hired me so no airfare paid out. So they shouldn't have a problem finally having to pay an airfare; even if it is steep. My contract also does not stipulate a maximum amount.
Any thoughts or experiences on the matter would be welcome. |

Iam with Gepik also and it does not state an amount. When I showed the amount to my co-teacher she said that was high. I said there is no limit and tthe most direct flight. READ MY CONTRACT!!!!!!!! |

Cool. My contract actually states that it will be reimbursement or the school can go and buy a ticket. They have made no move to do so, and since things around my school get dealt with later rather than sooner, I am just going to go and buy the ticket. My co-teacher did show me an amount of 1.6 that they were budgeting for, but I will pass that.
hochhasd, do you mind me asking how high yours was? |

DAMN those are expensive flights. Am I spoiled by flying out of California? Two one ways for me usually work out to less than those roundtrips. |

Yeah.
They usually try to budget us at 1.6 mil won- regardless on how many tens of millions the principal has tucked in his paperclip shelf.
Just buy the ticket, give it to them, and keep a copy of the receipt. That is your evidence that you are following the contract to the letter. If they refuse to pay, then talk to the district rep/district coordinator, lawyer, labor board, etc.
When I was renewing, they arbitrarily decided to talk about following the new contract without completing the old one. new ticket cost 1.6. Old contract stated I should have gotten 2 mil (since I wasn't flying home)

I wonder how they are going to be able to find a flight for me without spending 2,165,000 won with KAL? I checked JAL (connects with American in the states) and United and they all are charging the same as KAL and they have more stops and are not as direct as KAL. I wonder if a travel agent can actually get the a deal with one of the above airlines for 1,600,000 won? |

There IS a price ceiling...
75% of the PUBLISHED FULL FARE on KAL or on a KAL issued ticket.
That would work out to close to 3 million - one way to Florida.

I apologize, but are you saying the school could find the same flight with KAL or another airline for 1,600,000 won when KAL is charging 2,165,000? I understand that the ticket could go as high as 3 million? concerning a price ceiling? |

My question all along(price ceiling or no ceiling) has been,if KAL is charging 2,165,000 krw one way to my home and the school will not book the flight with them can they find another flight or the same with a travel agent for 1,600,000KRW? |
