I have a friend who works at a university. She also works at a small hakwon part-time. She wanted to have both of them registered on her visa but the university would not allow it. She continues to work at both.

My question for her is this: What is the penalty if she is caught working at the hakwon? I have heard of a 1 million won fine for the teacher and a 5 million won fine for the hakwon. Does it affect her chances of renewing or getting another E-2 visa?

Any experience with this situation or information would be useful. Any website address or contact information would also help. Thanks everyone!

Penalty is a fine and possible cancelation of her visa. And she may not be able to get another one for 2-3 years.

But it all depends on the particular officer she gets to oversee her case. Like so much else it varies.
