Hey everyone,

I'll be in Korea for a couple weeks. Any ideas on day trips outside Seoul? Anything from cool old towns, good parks and hikes, anything really.

THANKS!

Go to Andong. Stay in the nearby folk village and drink lots of Andong soju.

jeonju (westcoast) can be done in one day. leave early in the morning, come back on the last bus.
they have hanok villages there and are famous for their bibimbab as its the original place it came from.

chuncheon (somewhat close to the eastcoast) is a good place to go for a day as well. theres lakes and dakgalbi town.

mouoido (island/ beach about 30 mins from incheon airport). some red busses go there and two busses from incheon airport. cool to hang out by the ocean and get the feel of sand between your toes again.

Bukhansan, a nice little mountain range just northeast of Seoul with some good hiking places. Go on a weekday, as most weekends are SUPER crowded!

Also, DMZ. there are several touring groups that make day trips up there.

Do-Bong-San (Dobong Mountain) is in Uijeongbu (on subway line 1). You can go to the nearest station and take a taxi.

Also if you go all the way up to the end of line 1, you could take a taxi (bit expensive though - probably 10k?) to Soyosan mountain.

There's a place called Herb-Island. It's technically in Pocheon, but it's on the Dongducheon side of the mountain. It would also probably be about 10k to get there by taxi from the last station north on Line 1.

There's also this website you might want to look at

Anmyeondo. There's a 7:20 (?) bus from Central City which will get you there by 9:30ish. There are miles of beaches, lakes, walking trails, bike rentals...
