I often watch Korean dramas to practise my Korean listening (plus it's a great excuse to lie in bed on cold mornings  )
I don't understand much, usually very simple exchanges, long sentences completely baffle me. I'd like a thread with vocab relating to korean dramas. It will help learners like myself understand more of what is going on, and make them more enjoyable too. Some words I'm guessing come up a lot are: rich, poor, wedding, marriage, love etc.. let's hear them! |

I watch dramas all the time!
In fact, in about 15 seconds I'm going to be watching a drama. I watch via internet and use the scripts so i can understand. it takes me up to 4 hours to see a 50 minute episode. |

Well, the are several stations: KBS, SBS, MBC....
First you need to register. Foreigners have their own little door, so don't take a wrong turn
Next, you need to pick a dama. Look in CD stores and check out the video section if you want to see what's popular or just brouse the TV web site.
Some stations have better presentation than others. MBC is cool: big screen and easy access. MBC does cost monty. it will cost about 500 per episode and 200 for the scripts. the script can't be printed. Only read. |

PS I did get some scripts from DAUM cafe sites, but this is sketchy at best. |

| When living here for three months during the World Cup I woke up every morning bright and early at 10:50 am and watched the drama on Arirang TV that came on at 11. I was intermediate back then so the subtitles were really helpful. After becoming advanced though it's better to ditch them (the subtitles, that is) unless you're studying to be a translator. |

I like learning Korean but I hate the dramas.
My girlfriend is into 2 at the moment,
���� �� (Pearl necklace)
and the Chosun drama with the girl doctor.
I like learning this language but geezzz....give me something good to watch.
About the only thing i could hack was non-stop. |

Yea, that's the cool thing about learning Egnlish: there is a vast wealth of different genres and media to pick from.
Korean is pretty sparse, although I love some things. Comics are cool (mostly ones translated from J though) and some Dramas are cool (��ž������� is cool, and well worth checking out Mr. just because. |

I do this at times but to be honest haven't learnt that much but watching it if you are past high beginner as all the translations are quite easy.
Viewing times are

I'm against the above. You watch friends and you are watching an American experience. Since communicating in Korean is not only a linguistic problem but a CULTURAL one as well, Friends doesn't really help. |

I agree with Soeulmon,
I was watching and the interpretations are sketchy sometimes. If i can pick up the mistakes in translation then its not good .
Example last night,
Someone mentioned meeting on 5th.(street) but the Korean translation was ������ �����ô�(lets meet on the 5th. floor). |
