I have to admit, I thought he was pretty damned hilarious when he was doing Diff'rent Strokes, at least for the first few seasons. Granted, I was a kid at the time.

Nothing he did after that came remotely near attaining the same degree of success. Not many remember him as the 10 000 Year Old Man on the late 70s revival Buck Rogers. And sadly, he, along with the rest of the DS youth ensemble, became poster kids for why it's a bad idea for children to go into acting.

Anyway, RIP.

They guy had a rough adult life. Worked as a security guard at one point, if I remember right.

42. So young.

Actually when you look at his health problems it was about time.

Coleman was born in Zion, Illinois. He was adopted by Edmonia Sue, a nurse practitioner, and W.G. Coleman, a fork-lift operator.[2] He suffered from a congenital kidney disease caused by focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (an autoimmune destruction and alteration of the kidney), which halted his growth at an early age, leading to a small stature (4 ft 8 in; 1.42 m) and a childlike appearance. He underwent two kidney transplants, one in 1973 and one in 1984, and required daily dialysis.[3]

Hardly worth revelling in his death though is it. My Gran was 84 when she died, but my first thought upon hearing she had passed was not,

"About frickin' time, she was really old"
