I am Australian and am applying for an E2 visa to work for a hagwon.

I have an original copy of a Criminal Record Check. I have had it apostilled. I am reading in various places that it should have been notarized first, but have found nothing conclusive. I am reluctant to fork out $120 to do this all again if it isn't necessary.

My question is:

Should I have got the CRC notarized first? Or is an apostille enough?

Let you know what I did but it was in-country. Had the CBC sent to me from oz and then went to the Australian Embasy to get it signed/notorized (almost 30,000won I think) and that was it.

Don't know the process if you are still at home though. Sorry

Just got my CRC done. I didn't get it notarized - just apostilled.

I got my E2 visa fine, no problems.

I think notorization is only for copies....

When I was still in QLD, I went and got it apostilled- no notorization. In and out within the hour.

I only got my CBC apostilled, not notorized. In Melbourne it took 48 hours to be done.

If I am in Brisbane and I send my original CBC to Korea for the visa number will it have any problems when the Korean Consulate here ask for my passport to issue the visa? Do I need to show any documents here? and also being in Brisbane is it likely I have to fly to Sydney for the interview or is a telephone interview sufficient?

Thanks!

Why do you think it will have problems (names not matching? not apostilled?)?

I haven't had to show documents in Australia and I didn't have to have an interview (not even a telephone).
