This is so frustrating. I read it about six months ago, loved it, and can't remember the title.

I'm looking for a book, fiction, with the following characters: richard II, duke of lancaster, bolingbroke, duke of york, katherine, edward, le despenser. It's pretty thick, about 500 or 600 pages. The cover is red. There were about 3 pages in the front with the list of characters.

Thanks so much

EDIT: Found it: Within the Fetterlock.

Nope, not a play. But thanks anyways. I've done google searches and library searches and also came up with Shakespeare. Richard II wasn't hundreds of pages, was it? If it was, then that would explain why we never read it.
But it's a recent novel, like in the 1990s or 2000s. Arg, this is SO annoying that I can't remember it.

what kind of book was it- romance, history. . ?
who was the main character of the ones listed?
any major plot points that you recall?

Is it one of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crucible_Trilogy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Named

Wikipedia has a page about the various British monarchs in pop culture, and those were the non Shakespearean listings for Richard II in literature

historical fiction

house of york
House of Lancaster
House of Beaufort

Richard II
katherine Swynford (she's the narrator for the most part)
Lancestor
Gloucester
Owain Glyndwr
Earl of Warwick
John of Gaunt
Edward II, I think

lots of battles,

a section where a woman, can't remember her name is told that her husband (king, duke, etc) has died. She' passes out on the horse, but doesn't have a miscarriage.

another section where they kill "traitors"

They forgive other traitors

something about a head being taken back to prove that the person actually died.

Welsh vs. English

Fleeing the castle in the middle of the night

I know it was well researched. I want to say that it had something to do with "war" "rose" "richard" but I've searched and can't find anything.

Like I said, at the begining there were a couple pages of the characters and all their names.

At the back was a glossary of terms.

no, I'm starting to think that I should give up. NOt a biography, but a historical fiction account. I can pick the book, just not the name. I think I should start writing down the books I read.

Nope, it's fiction. And one story. While I haven't foudn the title of the book, I have found out more than I would have ever known about The War of the Roses by trying to search on yahoo for the name of the book.

Maybe, I don't know. It's long enough, but I'm pretty sure the title was longer and a man wrote it. I think I should just give up.
