hi, im applying for F4 visa and have some questions regarding it : (

i read that your parents have to renounce their citizenship
is that true?
my parents have indefinite leave in UK
and havent been to korea since 1996

i was born in UK but went to korea from 1993-1996ish,
and had a korean passport issued to me which i still have a copy of but invalid,

im still in UK so i was gonna apply thru the embassy, will this take long?
im waiting for my copy of birth certificate to arrive which will be ageeesss

i rang up the embassy but they werent very helpful, told me to go to the website and had no info on whether ur parents have to be koreans or british citizen

If you had a Korean passport then you are (unless you have renounced it) a Korean citizen. Get a Korean passport (from the Korean Embassy) and be done with it.

Just be careful, if you are a male between 18-35 you may be required to do military service.

i got mine from the embassy in London.....and yes, your parents (as well as you) have to have renounced their citizenship to qualify for the F4. Once you have all the docs, it takes about 1 week for the whole process (5 working days officially). The embassy in London is quite useless for answering questions over the phone but e-mailing them gets a better detailed response.

I just got my family census from my uncle
and it's got my name on it

my parents r Korean citizens and wants to remain that way so does it mean i can't apply for a f4 visa?

Nothing on the website abt not being able to apply if ur parents r Koreans so : (

I'm really bummed about this lol

Yes, it means that you can't get an F4 - citizens don't need a visa.

It also means you don't need a visa - you can GET A KOREAN PASSPORT.

It also means that you cannot renounce YOUR Korean citizenship until AFTER you have completed your military service or reached the age of 36.

Welcome to the Korean Army.
