If you know of a school like this, please leave a reply. I know I'm way past the hiring season, but I'm only interested in schools/hagwons that focus on students who are interested in going to school in America and thus are smart and highly focused on test/college prep. Thanks!
I'm still a few posts away from the 25 minimum mark needed to PM people, so if you leave your phone number or email, I'll contact you. |

Check out MoonKkang. They are a hagwon that has several schools, mainly in Daegu, but that also has a few branches scattered around the country.
They have a genius school in Daegu, and the kids are amazing. Most branches have 'yonjae' (genius) level classes. The ones I taught in the past are impressive. Really great elementary and middle school kids, who are serious about fluency .
Check out their website: http://www.mkeslteaching.com/ and contact them to see if anything is available. The only problem I could see is actually getting the job. MoonKkang folk tend to keep their jobs, and usually there is a demand to teach the yonjae levels.
Anyways, best of luck to you in your search. |

OP, if you can rock out near perfect SAT scores on a regular basis then you can get a job at many hagwons that teach SAT prep. Korean students studing for SAT's are a different breed than those you just need TOEFL. |

@ oternadrift: Thanks very much for the information. That's exactly the type of info I'm looking for. If anybody else has another school to suggest, please do so.
@ pkang0202: thanks also, but I know the Korean market well; I'm just looking for specific contact info/websites... |

Jimbo is asking for you to give up your network of information for the sweet jobs because he thinks he is to good for the run of the mill jobs.
If you want specific work, start walking around Seoul and get some work done.
Talk about Entitlement. |

@ Juregen: *sigh*. Another hater (why so many on Daves ESL Cafe?). I've worked in Korea for awhile, I'm just asking if anybody would like to give me a boost in the right direction. Do they have to? No. As for your advice to "start walking around Seoul and get some work done", I actually have done EXACTLY that. I've grabbed a good suit, a stack of my resumes, even printed out a business card, and walked around Daechi-dong ("hagwon central") for a couple days, going into hagwons to speak with the owners about employment. I have learned Korean because I like this country and want to work here. I went in to about 25 different academies, speaking a mix of English and Korean to ask about their schools and possibilities of jobs. I didn't think any of them were any good, no, so why not ask around at Dave's?
I don't know why I'm bothering to take the time to respond to you, but whatever... |

The princeton review Korea has two campuses in Seoul that do test prep--One right beside Co-Ex and one in Apgujeong. The pay is pretty decent and you can make a killing during intensives, but be prepared to work 8-10 hour days with very little break.
I had some brilliant kids though. I even had some native speakers in my class back to Korea to visit grandma and grandpa in the summer. |

@ schlotzy: Yeah I've worked right across the street from the P-Review near CoEx, and they have a line going around the block during intensives sign-up at the beginning of Summer - it's crazy! It's either them or Topia, at least.
They're a good option, thanks. I've spoken with them, however, and they are such a big company that they have their own recruitment system in place and everything's full.
Anybody else? |

If I got a 1200 out of the 1600 SAT scale, is that suffice to teach SAT here? |

The grammar of that sentence alone means "No"...
But seriously, no I don't think 600/600 could get you a an SAT teaching position. |

Some of the test-prep hagwons have put ads up on Dave's and on Worknplay recently. Scour the job lists and you'll find them. If your Korean is actually pretty decent, as in you are intermediate level or higher, you should be able to find a job more easily, because many places prefer teachers who are able to lecture in both English and Korean.
As for the other poster who asked about SAT scores, most places require you to take the test on-site when you apply for a position. If you can't get at least a 750 out of 800 on the reading and/or verbal section(s) -- roughly 90% correct -- then you will probably not be able to get a job, at least not one that pays well enough to justify all the hard work of teaching SAT-prep. |
