I stopped in yesterday just to see if they have anything new. It's hard to believe but the store actually seems to be stocking fewer foreign goods. Has Hannam Supermarket stopped trying to be a place to buy western foods?

It was hurtin last time I was there. Didn't even carry tomato soup. I have always been aware how high the prices are there, but now it doesn't seem worth it to go there, as everything is cheaper everywhere else.

I went in there yesterday. There was nothing there worth the price that I felt like i really wanted.

You can find almost everything they have at costco, e-mart or home plus.

I would never go back to hannam.

Hannam market mostly purchases products from Costco and resells them individually at a slightly marked-up price. It's decent if you need something in smaller quantities, but you can definitely find pretty much everything elsewhere. It was the place to go to before, but has been slipping.

One day I decided to go try Hannam supermarket and Haddon House. Hannam had an awful lot of Kirkland brand products. I have never been back there. Haddon House, on the other hand, was awesome!

Anybody who goes to Hannam instead of Haddon House is insane. It's not all that convenient, but so much better.

The day Foreign Food Mart opened (up next to What the Book in Itaewon), Hannam Market was screwed.

They just remodeled and almost doubled their sq. footage..and the place is still constantly packed. Can you imagine the money being made at that place?!?

Some of the older expat bloggers still have this store listed as "must see." Hopefully some of them will update their websites.

Man they are doing a busy business there. They might consider opening a large full fledged super market as space is still too limited even with the new addition in the back right side. They too have the Kirkland brands such as those big blocks of cheddar. Even sour cream is to be had as well as green limes. Not bad for a foreign business...

it's closed. went by there today to see if anything worthwhile was in stock. Dandy's mart (the smaller one in front of Hannam) is still open, but the big store is gone, shelves all torn out and everything.

Hannam Market is closed? Holy moses. An icon falls. Unless they're the investor behind this new place, I say, good riddance. I remember once at HM picking up some regular Korean ramen along with my foreing purchases, and the ramen was double the E-mart price. Not 10 won more or less, as Homeplus would try, but fully double, something like 7000 won for a five pack of ramen.

Dandy's will have a tough time surviving, now, but good riddance also--they sell (or try to sell, to impulse buyers) expired US cold cuts.

Thanks for posting this and saving everyone a trip there.

There are plenty of posters on here who live right there, and close to other Itaewon stores, who never bother to post info for others. It would be nice if some would post about something other than drink specials and bars, and usually after the fact.
