Sorry if this question has already been asked, but I'm looking for updated information on where/how to get tested for HIV/Aids.

1. If I use my Korean medical card, do you think my school will some how find out?

2. Can someone who speaks Korean write out in Korean "I need an HIV/Aids test."

Thanks.

If you want your privacy to be respected in a sensitive issue like this, head to an Itaewon clinic. A Korean hospital runs the likelihood of waving this information around, as many of us have experienced during our medical tests.

Hello. A free anonymous test can be had here:

http://www.khap.org/Eng_Html/Test_01.php

They alternate each Sunday between northern Seoul (Gireum station) and Ansan. Send them an e-mail and they'll reserve a spot for you but when I went they didn't seem too busy. Totally confidential, they never ask for your name, and you can get your results within 20 minutes.

You will not need your medical card or any other kind of identification.

I think a positive test result will expeditiously get you tossed out of the country. Anonymous, through KHAP, is the only way in Korea that I know of to get tested in a way that won't threaten your residency.

Also, consider getting tested in Thailand. Cheap or free. Same day results.
