I hope they make it past group play, but I'm not cheering for them to win the whole thing. |

I don't care too much, as long as they lose at least one match on a "controversial" call. The Korean netizens are much more entertaining than their soccer team. |

So, what would like to see out of Korea in this World Cup? |

I hope they do well. I've lived here for 4 enjoyable years, and I also have some Korean friends, so I find it hard to be spiteful and hope that they lose every match they play.
I don't expect them to win it, and to be honest I think it's going to be pretty hard for them to get to the second round. But if they beat the Greeks in their first game, then they should be in with a good chance. |

There's no need to wish for Korea to fail, but I can't see them qualifying. Even if they do beat Greece, they have to hope Argentina and Nigeria slip up. 3rd place finish in their group at best. |

There was a lot of schadenfreund here when Korea bowed out in the last World Cup. It was a reaction to the overwhelming nationalism many of us experienced after the 2002 WC. |

I kinda want to see it get crazy here like it did in 2002.
However, the SK team really isn't any good and I think if the made it out of their group that would be an accomplishment in itself. If they are on the short end of the stick with a controversial call then it is just Karma coming a calling from 2002. |

I'm really interested in this overwhelming nationalism. What form did it take? Were non-Koreans threatened? Attacked and/or intimidated? Please don't link this to the tank incident of the same year, I'm specifically interested in football/soccer nationalism. |

As it stands in the poll, 35% of people hope they lose every game they play. That's some serious bad sentiment! What's wrong with you people?!
I hope they make it to the second round, where they'd meet one of South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay and France. I reckon they'd have a good chance of beating any of those teams on a good day. |

I have no problem with the team itself, but I can't stand 이동국 and 이운재.
I have a problem with the fans. If you don't know what happened after World Cup 2006 and the game with Switzerland, I will never support this team.

Please expand. I was here at that time, albeit very fresh off the boat, and I don't recall anything shocking. |

They protested ad nausiem about the 'offside goal' that actually wasn't offisde at all.
Then Korean nazizens then crashed the FIFA website and someone threatened the Swiss Embassy with a bomb.

I'm not condoning such foolishness, but it's a hell of a lot better than having gangs of drunken louts roaming around cities, assaulting people, setting things on fire, fighting the police... a la England, Holland, Germany, etc |
