There is this book called "Basic Korean.pdf" (Basic Korean A Grammar and WorkBook) and you can find it online. It points out the basic grammar points straight and simple without any prerequisites and provides some questions to work through. There is also an intermediate book (Intermediate Korean A Grammar and Workbook), haven't been able to find it online though.
There is another grammar book called "Using Korean.pdf" (Using Korean A Guide to Contemporary Usage), which is a much deeper guide on grammar usage.
Here is a good blogspot guide to Korean: http://parksguide.blogspot.com/
A good podcast for beginners and intermediate level learners: http://www.talktomeinkorean.com/
For listening and writing hangul: http://www.koreanwikiproject.com
The arirang book you mentioned: Is it downloadable from the Arirang Tv website? |

Get the sogang books.
Do a language exchange. Get the Korean to drill you on the grammar patterns and dialogues. |

for self study, i think the seoul university books are your best option. they cover a lot quickly, but they are a good reference. |

I highly recommend the University of Hawaii Integrated Korean books. I got quite far by doing the beginner series on my own. |

I second this! The textbook breaks down grammar quite well and teaches you a lot of vocabulary. The workbook helps you with hangul.
I know you can find this series of books on Amazon, and I think whatthebook (in Itaewon) can get them too. |

I also put most sentences with the audio from the mp3s http://www.uhpress.hawaii.edu/catalogs/kleartexts.html (not vocab alone) into anki and reviewed that way.
If you decide to go that way let me know I can send you my anki deck which will save you a lot of time. |

+2. Agreed. I've been using these books for a while alongside the Yonsei textbooks and the Sogang website. I spent ages trawling through university websites to see what textbooks they use back home and in the States and most universities seem to use the Hawaii books. Definitely worth buying. |
