Hey guys, im pretty sure this is a repetitive question but here goes.

I'm really wanting to get away pretty soon, well i finish my Degree at the end of the month, just wondering if theres a time period to apply for teaching jobs in Korea and if there is still time this year.

Also how long would it take for me to get all the paperwork needed to actually get going?

Another thing, i would strongly consider teaching in China also as i've been before and loved it but as i've heard Korea is a lot easier for first timers i'd happily go for a year or 2 first.

Oh by the way im a 23 year old Englishman.

As Tom would or will say:

READ the FAQs on this site (hint they are in the faq forum) BEFORE asking wide open general questions....

By reading the faq you will answer many of your own questions and at the same time have INFORMED questions to ask the people on this board which in turn will generate INFORMED and RELEVANT answers.

Or just ask open ended questions here and enjoy the sarcastic comments... Laughing

I will gladly help you OP...but please read the FAQs so you can ask precise questions.

How long does it take to get a visa?

Depends on:

Do you have your Degree (you do not seem to and a letter of graduation is not sufficient).
Do you have a CRC done.
Do you have transcripts (sealed)
Do you know where you want to work (City, Countryside)
Do you where you want to work 2 (private academy, Public School)
Do you have a resume and photo ready.
Is your passport still valid.
Do you want to use a recruiter.
Do you prefer to fly over and look locally.

See what I mean?

Hiring period?

Varies by employer (public schools, universities, hakwons....).

China vs Korea: depends on you.

So again, take a couple of hours to read the Faq...this will pay off handsomely as it is a treasure trove of information.

If you want advice you can use effectively, get informed and then list your remaining questions.

Best of luck.

There are always job openings here. If you want a public school, though, you may have to wait since they do most of their hiring twice a year.

I'll echo what others have said. Asking questions is fine, but do your own research and plenty of it. You'll learn a lot, quite a bit being things you wouldn't have thought to ask in the first place, and you'll have entirely different questions than you do now. That was my experience anyway.

OP get all your documents ready before you come over. CRC is available form disclosure Scotland.

When you have a job (contract signed etc) send them all over on DHL (I find them good with the tracking and all).

DO NOT COME TO KOREA to look for a job since it will be a very expensive exercise.

A FIRST TIME VISA APPLICANT MUST GET HIS VISA FROM HIS HOME COUNTRY. In your case op you will have your visa issued in London.

Yes and no. Generally speaking, there is a lot of hiring in January and February because the school year starts in March. I also believe many schools hire towards the end of summer. There are, however, openings all year long.

HMMM.....

Planning on signing away a year or two of your life but don't have 2 hours to read the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions).

Me thinks this sounds like a horror story in the making.

Can I pre-bid the movie rights?
