My ARC and Visa expire August 19th, but my EPIK contract ends August 25th. I'm applying for jobs in August. Do I need a school to sponsor my visa before the 19th?

I also need a criminal background check again...can I get that in Korea because I haven't left since I got here August of last year... I really don't know the process of that either because I've been teaching in Korea for nine months...

I'm really confused, and I've asked my teacher friends to help, but they don't have answers. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate your response--thanks! Smile

What is the end date on your ARC?

Your visa (in your passport) is meaningless at this point in time.

IF you need an extension that allows you to work then you need to go to immigration with a copy of your contract (with the end date showing), certificate of employment (to show that you are still working), certificate of sponsorship (guarantor letter), ARC, passport and 30k won.

They will extend you until the end date on your contract.

IF you need time beyond that you need to go again to get a tourist extension (non -working). this can be up to 30 days. You need to show your exit ticket, passport and ARC.

IF you are NOT going to be working during the last week of your contract then you can just get a tourist extension.

I was just thinking, what a load of crap that is. Why I think would immigration stamp it until then knowing very well my contracted ended on the 25th.. It's really dumb that I have to do all of that, plus pay 30,0000 won for it, you know?

Seems like that's what I'll have to do. Thanks so much Ttompatz! Very Happy
