Funny how a 'winner' can be such a 'loser'. |

I've read before that people who don't grow up with a lot of money, including celebrities, and who come into money at one point, tend to squander it and end up with nothing.
Moral of the story is: People, if you win a couple o' million, hire a money manager! |

Growing up with money is as bad as coming into wealth through luck. It's usually the kids of a rich dynasty who squander the wealth.
The people who actually make their fortune know what it takes to build wealth, and as a result, mostly don't squander it. Sure they often have lots of nice things. But, they buy those things after they are wealthy. Not before.
A good book on this subject is The Millionaire Next Door.

I have a pdf copy of it, if anyone wants it. |

Hahaha, man this guy.... Look at the difference in body type from when he won the money and today. I love seeing people like this fall flat on their a@#es. Give me 10 million and you will never hear from me again. Hell, give me 1 million and I promise you I could make that last. I'm but a simple man..... |

Now there's a sound investment.

How does some guy winning money and spending it all have anything to do with socialism? |

I remember hearing about this guy maybe 6 years ago when he only had about a million and a half pounds. They were speculating if he would get his act together and be smart with the cash. guess not.
One detail I remember was he bought this mansion in some rich
area of town. It had a huge back yard. So what did he do? Put in a
swimming pool and fill it with hot chicks? Nope. He set up a demolition
derby track. Ran it all hours of the night. Pissed off the neighbors royally.
Sad to think of what good could have been done with the cash.
Glad to hear he is poor again though. |

Plenty good was done with the cash. It went back into the local economy. It's not like he spent it and now it's gone forever. |

The man is clearly no Mensa candidate, but I kind of respect him for doing exactly what he wanted with the cash. |

Me too. It obviously didn't do him any good, so he is likely better off without it. I'm sure he misses the drugs, the women, the cars and the parties but even he says he is better off now (though he would say that). |

Admit it... it's still a fun story to read.
He has some giant brass, though, to ask for welfare after all this. This is the sort of thing he should write a book about! |
