I have to say I'm enjoying the current wave of watermelons in Korea. Recently we've been picking up nice sized and exceptionally sweet ones from a street seller outside of our block of flats (3,000 won each).
Summer is truly here! |

I just saw them on the street in my area for 13,000won! I live in the Seoul ghetto! Why are they so expensive near me?
I love watermelon.

I seen what appears to be identical clones of a water melon for 8,000 won and beautiful never before seen yellow water melons for 19,000. |

Watermelon rinds are also edible, and sometimes used as a vegetable. In China, they are stir-fried, stewed or more often pickled. When stir-fried, the de-skinned and de-fruited rind is cooked with olive oil, garlic, chili peppers, scallions, sugar and rum. |
That sounds fantastic!
A small watermelon I got this week for 8,000 won. I miss the bigger, sweeter ones back home, but these are decent enough. They're worth it.
(It's those sawdust-tasting strawberries I can't let ruin my appetite for the fruit.) |

I love Watermelon!!! I'm just gonna rave about it for awhile...it's juicy, and crisp, and tasty... yum!!! I'm from California, and in the summer I think it comprises a large percentage of my diet!!
I'm glad someone else is as upset about the highway robbery that occurs every time you purchase one here (or at least that's what it feels like - I know, I know costs of production, etc...)
They've been about 15k won where I live.. but I saw a truck with them for 5k won on the way to the gym... but I had no cash I'm still bummed
Does anyone know if the price drops as summer delves into extreme humid unpleasantness?? |
