Hey guys, I'm a student from Switzerland and I'm writing a paper about nationalism in South Korea as a school-project. I was wondering if you guys could tell me about your experiences, as I'll visit Korea myself in a few weeks.
I won't use what you write here in my paper but I thought maybe I could arrange an interview with some of you so you could give more detailed information about your experiences etc. (if you don't mind of course)
If you're interested please answer me or send me a private message.
Thanks! |

Thanks Jandar, but I was actually talking about your personal experience. It's not too hard to get theoretical information, but thanks anyway.
I really want to know about people's (or your) own experiences... |

People`s personal accounts and experiences are too subjective for a paper, it amounts to anecdote. Sounds like the collected interviews would be more suited to a magazine article or opinion piece.
If you wanted to do a proper study, you might consider surveying e.g. 100 expats from e.g. 3 different countries based on set questions. That`d give perspective and more credibility. It`d be intersting to weigh the standard responses from expats in for example Korea, Japan and Taiwan. |

Look up Brian Myers. He has written a book on North Korean nationalism - very likely he could tell you a lot about the Southern version, and it wouldn't be worthless anecdotes, either. He lives in Busan - that's all I know. |

Thank you for your replies!
Nautilus, my paper won't be solely based on personal anecdotes. Mainly it will be based on books and articles that I've read etc., but I thought it would be interesting to include people's personal opinions on the subject, in order to have some concrete examples. |

Nationalism is just part of the air you breathe over here. Like a rank odour rising from the gutters. |
