Lucky

The closest I ever got was seeing him at the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of "The Tempest" in Ann Arbor. Really Raunchy. Totally unlike THE Captain.

A good 'normal' episdoe. Marina Sirtis added depth to Troi and the whole interplay between the Tal Shiar and the military was great. Remarkably perceptive of the writers to recognize that the military is often more moderate than the political wing, yet will still choose to do its duty over
disobedience.

Maybe the original Star Trek was good in its day, but it dates badly. Kirk was a chauvanist and a fat playboy. It doesn't work. In their day, Bones' and Spock's one-liners were cool, but the show was horribly predictable. Like the red-shirts dying, Kirk getting it on with any female that comes on board, etc.

I never liked any of the original crew. In general, I find vulcans boring. maybe not Spock. He was the first. I never liked Tuvok.

My favourite characters: Picard, Data, Tom Paris, Harry Kim, B'Lenna Torres, The Doctor, Deanna Troi, Seven of Nine

Mediocre: Janeway, Riker, Quark, LaForge, Worf, Neelix, Beverly Crusher

Didn't like: Chakotay, The whole DS9 crew, Tuvok, Wesley Crusher

"Captive Pursuits" (s01e06), "Whispers" (s02e14) and "Hard Time" (s04e18)* of DS9 are some of the best trek there is, and cement Colm Meaney (Miles O'Brien) as one of the best actors in any of the series. Yeah, the rest of the crew were often mediocre...

*Note: I wouldn't even call myself a trekkie. These episodes were just memorable enough for me to find with Google. It helps that I watched all of DS9 about a year ago.

I thought Colm Meaney was a mediocre actor at best and his character to be plain and not interesting at all.

Odo must be my overall least favourite character of all time. He reminds me of Rupert from Survivor. Always compaining about something.

Well, to be honest, most of the time he is. It's when they feature him being tormented (the three episodes I mentioned) that he shines. According to Wikipedia, his suffering was even an inside joke amongst the producers:

Quote:
O'Brien's character is unique in the Star Trek universe. As well as being a non-commissioned officer, he is also a family man with a wife and children. He is often portrayed as being less patrician, and more pragmatic, than his colleagues. The producers would routinely put O'Brien under intense psychological pressure in episodes jokingly dubbed 'O'Brien must suffer'. O'Brien was regularly chosen for such storylines because it was felt people could empathize with him.

Yeah, Odo sucked. He had some good potential, but they kept turning him into a whiny POS. He needed to shapeshift himself a pair.

I'm appalled I just made that joke.

1. Out of the 5 shows, which was your favourite? Least favourite?

DS9

2. Which show had the best crew?

DS9

3. Which show had the best theme?

TNG because it was the theme from TMP.

4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?

Sisko. Least favourite - Archer.

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?
First Contact. Least favourite - V.

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?

I always felt DS9 should have been given another chance. New Frontier novels would make an interesting movie with Mac Calhoun.

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?
Sure. Just keep B and B away from it.

8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?
Best of Both Worlds. Yesterday's Enterprise. Timeless. Twilight. The Balance of Terror. In the Pale Moonlight. Any Garak centric episode.

Terrible ones.
Turnabout Intruder. The Game. The one where Quark and his merry band of Ferengi somehow rescue their mom from the clutches of the Dominion.

Any other comments?

Don't be appalled as it was the first time I've laughed out loud in a long time!

1. Out of the 5 shows, which was your favourite? Least favourite?
I'm happy to see so many Voyager fans. It's definitely my favorite too. I have never really watched TOS as I am a bit too young. It's corny but I respect its intent. Enterprise had some great moments, but the ending and the timing on the plot left a lot to be desired.

2. Which show had the best crew?
DS9: I LOVED Quark and both Jadzia and Ezri Dax. Garak was so underhanded... Smile Oh yeah and the return of Worf was fantastic. No 7 of 9 or good Vulcan character, but still pretty good set, IMO.

3. Which show had the best theme?
Enterprise LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

4. Who was your favourite captain?
Captain Jean Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise (make it so). PS. I apologize if this reference has been previously made.

5. Which was your favourite movie?
First Contact
Least favourite?
Nemesis. SPOILER ALERT: They killed Data! Why? why? why? There is no God or Wesley or Kes or wormhole aliens or Q continuum or other God-like being that should have allowed this to happen.

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?
New crew. I'd like to see a focus on maybe outsiders, maybe bounty hunters or something, in the Star Trek universe. We don't need a revamp, we need more data in the canon. If it's not canon, it doesn't count, IMO. And what's the friggin' point? (I am angry). Plus it makes the cameos that much more fun.

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?
Yes. See above.

8. Any really memorable episodes?
I liked Enterprise(4.15)- Affliction because it gave a back-story to the genetic experimentation which left a small faction of Klingons looking like humans (you know, the ones originally encountered on TOS). Also anything with the Borg or Q was golden to me.
Any really terrible ones?
I think there was one where a "hyper evolving" Captain Janeway and Paris turned into "advanced" crocodiles, mated, and created one of the first forms of life on some planet. It just made no sense.
The finale of Enterprise as well as the Nazi story arch. Seriously, it was like the writers wanted to piss in everyone's coke, but just didn't have enough PBR to manage it.

I feel so guilty for not reading everyone else's post. But no one else will read this. [/b]

1. Out of the 5 shows, which was your favourite? Least favourite?

Favorite: TNG
Least favorite: Voyager(If I watched more than two episodes of enterprise, it would probably be my least favorite, but I haven't seen enough of it to give an honest opinion.

2. Which show had the best crew?
TNG

3. Which show had the best theme?
TNG
Enterprise had a horrible theme. Power ballads do not belong in Star Trek.
4. Who was your favourite captain? Least favourite?
TNG

5. Which was your favourite movie? Least favourite?
Favorite: Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan
Least Favorite: Nemesis (Fat, sweaty retarded Data and sociopath Picard just didn't do it for me.

6. If there is another movie, which crew would you like to see?
TNG I would like to see Nemesis 2, the wrath of Kunti Kinte

7. Would you like to see another Star Trek show in the future?
Probably not. I think they've made plenty enough already
8. Any really memorable episodes? Any really terrible ones?
Chain of command was pretty sweet. The Outrageous Okona was horrible.
Any other comments?

The original is pretty good, but I think they had much more thought provoking and interesting stories in later series. I also liked DS9 a lot. I liked that they used story arcs, and I liked the stationary aspect of the show. I enjoyed seeing the station as a community which developed over the course of the series and getting to see the different worlds which existed within the station. In this way, it was somewhat comparable to Deadwood or The Wire. I found the Bajorans and their wacky religion pretty obnoxious, though. There also weren't any single episodes which were as good as the greatest episodes of TNG.
