|

I was wondering if anyone had any tips about good places to study Korean around Sillim or Gangnam?
I'll be working full time but it's a day job so I will have evenings and weekends free. We are planning to live in Sillim and I'll be working in Gangnam.
I'm not an absolute beginner but my level is very basic - i can't have any kind of conversation - i just know a bit of vocab.
It would be great to study at Seoul National University but as far as I can tell they don't have a part-time program.
Any advice, recommendations or stories about your own experience would be really appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Maybe I should have done more research before making that post - I've just found this:
http://www.gnucr.org./
It's run by Seoul national Uni. Anyone done it? |

I second SLA (Seoul Language Academy). It's out Gangnam exit 8. I took private lessons with the director, but all the teachers seem qualified and committed to Korean language education. I also studied at SNU, and would recommend SLA over their part-time programs. |

I study at Seoul Korean Language Academy, too.
I really like the classes there, and I feel like I've learned a lot in just the past month. My teacher is great and there are only 4 students in my class, but they don't all always show up and so it's often just two of us. There is a lot of speaking and grammar practice, and the teacher has obviously been teaching Korean for a long time because she understands our basic, baby Korean no matter how little sense we're making and she also answers any questions we have about life in Korea, etc.
The only complaint I have is that it's a little bit expensive for just one month - I was thinking about taking classes at YBM because their price is half of Seoul KLA's. However, I'm glad I chose this school and considering it's often just two of us in a class, it's still cheaper than having a private tutor. I also feel more motivated to go to class and study and do my homework because I'm paying for it. I've taken free classes before and just given up because it was like I wasn't losing anything by doing so. |

Are there any good morning language classes for learning Korean in the Mokdong area. My work schedule is 1-10pm and I am looking to take korean language classes in the morning. |

Thanks everyone - I'm going to go with the Seoul Korean Language Academy as suggested. I'll probably do the Saturday intensive for the first few months and then think about studying more.
I agree with danby about motivation. Formal classes really work for me. the only time I made progress in Korean last time I was in Seoul was when I was paying for classes. After I stopped going I just let it slip.
Thanks again for the advice,
