I've been looking for a job in Korea for 6 months. One recruiter that I have been talking to wants me to send him my VISA documents. He hasn't found a job for me but he keeps saying that I might be able to get a job if he has all of my documents in hand so that he can immediately start the VISA process. The problem is that I'm broke and I cannot afford additional copies of my VISA documents. I would have to send him the only ones that I have.

Do you think this is a good idea?

I really feel it's too risky.

I would not send him your documents until you have a signed contract. What happens if he does not find you a job then you have to start the process with collecting your documents all over again.

I have had some recruiters ask me for copies of my documents to prove that I have everything needed for the visa. E-mail him a copy of the documents.

congrats - you're learning and will do fine.

the only time you send the originals is WITH the signed contract and AFTER you've spoken to the school as well as the recruiter.

there are way too many threads on here where teachers made deals with recruiters only to find a bait and switch later. I'm not saying it's always going to happen but it does from time to time.

It's more that I just don't trust this guy. He claims that he has had several urgent positions that only want to hire someone who is in korea or has all of the documents in Korea. He says others have sent him documents before he found a job. I asked him how many people and he never answered.
