Has anyone ever had any orientation at a hakwon other than, "Here is your class and there are your students!"?

Welcome to hakwon Hades.

It is the norm. Start to read your face off. There is lots of stuff here for newbies to get past the 1st week of Shocked .

(hint: look at the top banner of this page (stuff for teachers).

what book(s) have you been given to use?
most series (let's go; interchange; etc.) have a "teacher's manual"
look around the office (ask?) for one and pre-view the lessons
that will give you some idea of how to get started
as for 'b-s'ing -
did the job ad read 'no teaching experience necessary'?
just roll with it..
in a few months you'll be giving a 'first timer' advice Wink
