I've now received all of my visa documents and I am looking to send them to Korea as soon as possible. Can you recommend a cheap delivery company to send them from the UK? I've looked around and it's quite expensive.

I think the only cheap option is to send through International Signed For with the Royal Mail. this will cost about 7 quid. It's not guaranteed though and will take about a week.

I've just shelled out 55 quid to send my documents with parcelforce, the Royal Mail's courier service. This would be about the same as DHL I think, and is guaranteed delivery.

I'm pretty sure International Signed For would be fine to be honest, but personally I decided not to chance it. My wife and I have sent loads of parcels to and from Korea in the last four years. We've lost one. I sent a present to my wife from the UK about three years ago, which didn't make it.

Honestly I think there's less than a 0.05% chance of losing your documents if you send by the regular signed for airmail, but for my own peace of mind I spent the extra 50 quid.

I think any courier service will be a similar price, from what I remember.

The Post office express mail service. Only takes 1 or 2 days more, costs less than 1/2 of what a delivery service will charge and just as secure (trackable and traceable).

True up to a point. Royal Mail does not offer trackable service within Korea (or at least they didn't 8 months ago when I sent my documents). Sending parcels from home via Royal Mail shows sent from the UK but doesn't show when it is delivered.

Do you have any good companys who can send heavier (20KG??) boxes of 'stuff' to Korea?

best qoute so far is about 100 for 2X25KG by sea, seems reasonable but personal experience is prefered rather than some random internet found company!

Oh man - the UK is so frustrating! When I moved back to the UK I sent about six massive boxes full of books and all sorts of stuff at really reasonable rates. When my wife tried to send stuff the other way for her dad's birthday it was so expensive - as far as we remember about 90 quid for just over 10 kilos by ship. That's like 10 times the price of sending from Korea to the UK. I've no idea why the Korean postal service can do it at such a cheaper rate than the Royal Mail. Makes me glad we're leaving England!

I think the quote you've mentioned above is a good one for the UK - maybe check out some customer feedback on the company.

To the OP - I think StavvioD is quite right - I was just being over cautious - but I've just quit a good job in the UK to move back to the ROK and i don't want to chance my documents getting lost in the post. As I said though, I'm sure it's a really minor risk that anything will happen.

As my criminal record check (from the UK) has just got lost in the regular mail - have been waiting 20 days now, so am giving up hope - I would definitely say not to cut corners, especially if not getting your job has serious knock-on consequences.

If there is no hurry, signed-for international mail is fine - takes on average 8 working days to Korea. Costs something like 8 quid total. You can track it on website by code, although it does specify who signed for your item, which can help to trace it if it does not get to the right person - has been useful for me in the past. Alternatively, you can pay up to 70 quid for a 4 day delivery service with Royal Mail. Similar costs for DHL or FedEx. Crossflight, based in Slough (?) is another courier company that I've used in the past for different countries, and I got a good price with them.
