Don't go there. Just don't. They'll make you undergo a battery of useless but very expensive tests that have nothing to do with the symptoms you reported. They will also make you come in as many times as possible just so they can squeeze more $$$ out of your naive expatriate ass.

If you really must go to SNUH, just use the emergency room.

Definately agree with you on this one. They will order xrays, lab tests anything they can to squeeze extra cash out of you. Yeonsei International Clinic is a little better and honest, but still pricey.

I will say the same thing about SNUDH. I went for a consultation for braces and oral surgery last year. They charged me about 450K for x-rays and models and I waited for 4 hours just so they could tell me what private clinics in Gangnam told me for free - that I needed double jaw surgery. And the price they quoted for surgery was 1.5x the cost charged by private clinics. I'd recommend not to go there unless you have a compelling reason.

Sounds similar to me I spent 3.5 million won for 10 unnecessary days in their facility. I had a stomach problem which I now know is called Barrett's Esophagus. They pumped me for dozens of xrays, tests, 200,000 per night stay in the room shared with 7 others, and various other bill fattening methods. BE CAREFUL!

As a former pro boxer with brittle hands, I've had the misfortune of visiting most of the larger hospitals in Gyeongkido. I broke my hands often, and would have to go to whichever hospital was closest to the arena I was fighting in (or gym I was sparring in). The attending doctor would order x-rays (understandable) and then WITHOUT EXCEPTION, would return and say "sorry, we can't see the x-rays well. We need to do a CT."

Big time money-grab.

The best place to get your STD tests is the International Clinic in Itaewon.

Yeah, SNUH did a painful and unnecessary test on me last summer. I agree that you should stay away and go elsewhere. I go to Severance even though SNUH is 10 min from my house and Severance is 40.

Yep. I agree. There definitely seems to be an attitude to make money (or cover butts) at SNUH.

I once caught a skin rash (probably from shaking hands with students), and it proved to be very costly as my govt. health insurance didn't cover it (they said it was cosmetic).

The first SNUH doctor told me I was "dirty", and when I finally got a doctor who knew what he was doing (I followed his treatment on the internet), he wouldn't give me the medicine so I could self treat. I had to keep coming back to see him once a week for 2 months. For heaven's sake, who needs a doctor, and then a technician, to apply cream???

I complained to the receptionists that I was being played around with, and the poor reception girl, who once was so friendly, used to hide under the reception desk when I came for my numerous appointments. A very expensive, embarrassing, and frustrating exercise.

So yeah, avoid at all costs.

I dislike the nurse at the SNUH. She acts like she owns the place. I either go to English speaking private practices or Gangdong Kyunghee hospital. They know how to treat people right.

Thanks for the kind words Xuanzang! Our center is not in central Seoul, but I think it is worth the subway ride.

We have full English Services at our Center and we do not charge any extra service fees for International visitors.

We are on line #5 Godeok St in South Eastern Seoul. www.khnmc.or.kr

02-440-7304 (better to make a reservation if you want to save time)

lol. SNUH sounds pretty bad.

I'll have to check out the hospital near Godeok station, I didn't realize there was an English-speaking hospital near me.

Haven't been to SNUH International Clinic, but I was quite happy with the treatment in the ER (I went in on the public holiday for Buddah's bday for tonsilitis).

The ER and the International Clinic are two separate animals. Stay AWAY from the IC.

Anyone else think of this when they saw the thread title?
