hogwan or public?
I just hate to say it, but especially if it's a hogwan, that is the fact of life here. Sometimes you get a good school that treats their teachers very well, sometimes you get terrible schools who want to break every labor law available because foreigners don't know much about Korean law.
Have you tried discussing the problems with your school first? I don't know anything about your school but it depends on how they may react to you leaving, especially since you haven't been here very long. They could make it very difficult for you, worse case scenario they could blacklist you with Immigration and you would have to leave Korea for good.
I suggest talking to your school. Leave it ONLY if absolutely necessary. I don't know what other advice anyone will give you, but I suggest sticking with it and making sure your school is following.
Also, your situation sounds fairly common. Most hogwans over test their students, especially the smaller ones. When my husband worked at a small Hogwan, they tested their students every 2 weeks. Very inefficient.
Next time, I suggest public school through EPIK or GEPIK. Definitely the way to go. That way, if your school tries anything, you have someone to go to for help. |

Your hagwon seems completely normal.
We have to test most of our students every month, and write reports every month as well. That's what happens with hagwons.
As far as your apartment, ask your school if you can switch. Explain to them that it is affecting your teaching because you cannot sleep. If that doesn't work, ear plugs might be the way to go, unfortunately. |

Have you tried talking to them about your apartment? It's a valid complaint and can legitimately affect your work performance if you are not sleeping well. Ask them if it is possible to move you to another location.
While the apartment is a valid complaint, I don't think your other one is... You have to test students and write reports? You have to perform duties that teachers do? So unfair... |
