Hello all,

I am hoping to send my dog to Canada, has anyone done this before or know anyone who has. Any information would be appreciated.

Kind regards

David

Oh For Gods sak lol

OP to the best of my knowledge the process is the same as bringing a dog, which I have done.

I have not sent my Dog home yet though, so use this as a guide, not the bible.

Go to the VEt, tell them that you are taking your Dog to Canada. You will simply have to get a health check document that says your dog is OK to travel.

It must be in English.

Take your dog to the airport and have that document on you.

There is no quarantine, you get your dog 5 minutes after you get your luggage.

if you are going to UK or Continental Europe, I think the rules are more strict, and I think theres a quarantine

A friend brought her dog from Korea to Canada last year and this is what she told me:

All airlines, for example, have different rules regarding their policies for flying pets. Make sure you check into the airline you're flying with to be sure about what they stipulate.

Whether you can bring your dog in-cabin or by cargo depends on the weight of the dog. Once again, check the airline. Bringing a dog in the cargo hold is more pricey than in-cabin.

There is a service in Korea where the company will arrange all the paperwork, pick up your dog from your home, and then bring it to the airport and have it checked in, if it's flying in the cargo hold. It's a little more expensive than doing it yourself, but my friend was very happy that she did it, as she had enough to worry about getting herself and all her stuff to the airport. She said the lady from the company spoke good English, and that she would recommend the company. I can contact my friend if you wish to know which company she used by PMing me.
