I am thinking about going to the Philippines for summer vacation 2nd and 3rd week of August. I am looking for information on where to go?

I am also wondering if it is a good idea to go during the Monsoon Season, i.e. what is the weather like?
Example, during Thailand's Monsoon season it rained once a day but not for very long and it was still hot.

If anyone has any ideas on where else to go that would be great, but I need to factor in cost and also I am looking to chill on a beach for the 2 weeks no big cities (I am kinda sick of concrete jungles), any help would be great, useful help that is! Smile

Thanks.

Unless you are into a serious amount of diving any beach will grow tiresome after a week or so.

The common places (with tourist infrastructure) are Boracay, Bohol/panglao/alona beach, metro cebu, and cebu province.

There are also the usual run of the mill places farther north (in luzon) but they ARE prone to excessive rains, occasional typhoons and flooding during the monsoon season. The areas in the visayas region are south of the typhoon belt and are LESS subject to the extremes of the weather.

A quick search here for any of "cebu", "boracay" or "Alona" will reveal a ton of relevant information.

I hear the western most island, Palawan, is great for wreck diving. There's some bay there that has like 10 wrecks all in shallow water (or so I hear). A friend of mine went there and had a blast. The landscape is more like Borneo than the rest of the Philippines, meaning more rainforest-like.

I went to Bohol and had a pretty good time. Relaxing beach, decent bars, pretty good diving. To me a good vacation is just relaxing, drinking, and sleeping in, so anywhere with a good beach and a good bar works.
