So yesterday, my former after school program manager and 3 associates tracked me to my new school, and bombarded me while I was teaching, accusing me of being a thief. They continued to harass me and insult me until finally we were able to get them to follow me out of class to take the matter away from the school. Before my new company even had time to defend me and explain my side of the story, the former manager talked with my current principal and vice principal telling them what a horrible person I was. The full breadth of the situation is that I apparently was overpaid money into MY bank account. That being said, the management company didn't get their cut, which I felt justified in taking seeing as they broke contract without allowing me to resign with the new stipulations, and the fact that much of how they are operating their business I found is illegal. They provided no pension, charged me interest on my key money, and required that I open a second bank account for them to handle. I feel like I've been slandered and now I face termination at my new work due to their threats. My current company has been very helpful and is trying to assist me in any way possible. I'm just wondering if I should pursue legal action against the former company? Any advice is much much much appreciated!

Have a good one!

My advice to you is that you should contact the lawyer for an advice.

It's pretty insane that they harassed you DURING a class.

I hope you called the police.

By the time my company found everything out and were headed to the school to call the police, the people left. I'm trying to find where to get the best legal advice concerning labor board and civil law. It's driving me mad!

Laughing Shocked Shocked Laughing Laughing

you mean you actually gave back as good as you got??!!

those after-school programs have been notorious on Dave's for years - illegal as hell - some of them were totally controlling teachers' bank accounts in order to launder money

so you took the money and ran, huh??!!! good for you!!!

don't know what you might have said in front of witnesses, but at this point, unless you signed something that said it was a joint bank account, and they had rights to the money, well, seems to me they wouldn't have shown up in person, they would have just called the police already.

since they showed up, they were hoping to intimidate you into confessing, or some such act. hoping your new boss would be like them and threaten you some more.

I would hold off on getting a lawyer just yet - wait and see what happens. if your new job is totally legit, and you aren't doing anything illegal at all, probably it will all just blow over. they lost a lot of face (and apparently won) and had to make a big show of it.

good one mate - totally awesome!!

Personally, I would get new bank accounts and with different banks.

Ditch any that are connected in some way to the old school.

Man, someone in high places need to put these corrupt bad employers in their place. Because they had you use a 2nd bank account and didn't pay into pension, this screams fraud. They are so wrong for illegally trespassing to harass you at work. I would think you could had filed charges if your present employer supports you which they should, because they not only violated you, they violated your current employer by disrupting his school in a hostile manner.

They are causing you to lose face. As a basis of keeping face, Korean libel laws are very strong whether it is true or not. You would have a very strong case. But would you get the money. Explain they are lying to the principal and then threaten them with a law suit. Tell them you have lost face and have no choice but to sue for slander and damage to your reputation. You need your "blood money".

Word of advise. As I mentioned the basis of libel laws, get the name of that employer down off the board right away. Private message any people who have questions.

Thanks for the advice. I had not posted the company's name for sake of legal concerns, however it was not the aforementioned company.

You stole from him, he finds you and confronts you about it, and you're looking for ways to put *him* in the wrong. Doesn't anyone else see a problem with this?

I did no stealing....Money was stolen from me actually over a period of 9 months. They justified taking over 2 million won monthly for pizza parties and supplies. However, there were never supplies nor pizza parties. It was actually quite sad considering we didn't even have enough books for the kids. Then on top of it, they changed the contract 4 months in saying they would no longer provide these mystery parties/supplies but that they were still keeping the money. Quite strange if you ask me.
