I have some commercial dvds that I want to copy onto my hard drive. What are some of the top programs for doing this?

Thanks

just put the dvd in and right-click the icon for the dvd-drive in 'my computer'......then choose 'open'......then drag and drop the 'video ts' file wherever you want to store it.......don't worry about the 'audio-ts' file.....it's nothing.....

you don't need any software......the 'video-ts' folder will be playable with something like VLC player.

Aren't most DVDs protected with CSS? I don't think that you can just drag files from the DVD to your computer (unless things have changed in the last few years). It's trivial to crack CSS using lots of programs, though. I used to use DVD Decrypter, but I'm not sure if that's still available. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Here's a solution:

This program strips off protection.

This program backs up the DVD.

As far as I know, it's still the product to use for this.

I have been using DVD Decrypter to put all of my DVDs on my external hard drive before I go to Korea. You can find it here:

http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/

It divides the movie into several parts when I use it, so then I use a program called JoinVOBFiles to make it one file. You can find it here:

Like eamo said, VLC player is a great program. You can find it here:
