Should be an upgrade offer like AT&T offered....money gouging Korean telecoms what do you expect? It took them this long to even allow foreigners to get an iPhone. Evil or Very Mad

So I am just curious, if you have an iPhone in Korea is it like the US where you have to pay for an internet package or can you just get a cheap voice only service? I'm getting my ARC soon and want to get this (mainly for the camera) but not if I have to pay for internet...

I'm pretty sure that your only options are going to be around 65k won a month and up. As far as I know you have to buy a data package.

It's overpriced if it's a feature I don't have a use for. Plus phone internet sucks anyway, iPhone or not. Anyone know of a phone with a really good camera that I can get w/o a data plan?

There are a lot of different plans. I-Talk plan, for example, gives you more talk time and like 100mb of data. I-slim. Etc...

Instead of asking here, why not go into a Show store?

I heard a rumor the new iPhone will be unlocked, at least in the US. So that way when overseas you can just pop in a new sim card and away you go.

Wonder if the K-version will be like this, too.

Really?

My contract for my 3GS is with KTF.

I thought it was "locked" so I couldn't just pop in a new sim card and be on my merry way.

Well, that's good news I guess!

Looks like there is/will be a cheap and easy way to upgrade. I'm just not sure I want to now what with the reception issues.

IPhone 3GS's six-month reign as Korea's coolest brand appears to be coming to an end, replaced by none other than the very next version of Apple's do-it-all smartphone, iPhone 4.

Although this has ``older'' iPhone users suddenly feeling a little outdated, KT, the mobile-phone carrier that provides the iPhone here, has offered to make it easier for them to leap on the iPhone 4 bandwagon. That is, however, only if they can find someone to take their old iPhones off their hands.

KT said it will allow existing iPhone users to switch to iPhone 4 and still keep their numbers by transferring their current handsets to another person, who will take over monthly installment payments and fixed-rate data plans.

Cheap easy way? Not likely. Most people still have like 600,000w balance left on their 32gb 3GS. Seriously, how many people are ACTUALLY going to take up your 3GS contract instead of just getting a Iphone 4 themselves? I bet you that the monthly cost between a 3GS and an Iphone 4 will be the same. There is no incentive for someone to take over your 3GS contract unless you give them extra money.

KT's upgrade policy is a joke. They don't want to deal with a bunch of used handsets, so they are putting the onus on the consumer.

They do, but you have to buy the insurance like very soon after you get your new phone.

Also, the insurance only covers up to like ~700,000w give or take for the phone.

Yeah this is a KT upgrade policy..total BS. I don't see any benefit in this at all.
