I have an iPhone (bought in Korea) on a KT contract.

If I move to another country, can I just pop the sim card out of my iPhone and put in a local one to get my phone to work?

No, you will have to unlock it. I don't think that the latest firmware can be unlocked yet, but eventually someone will release an unlock hack for it.

I don't really know the answer to that question. I usually just read engadget.com and gizmodo.com and whenever there is some new development they talk about it there.

Yeah, it costs $300 to register it.
You might as well buy one here for the same price.

Has anyone else experienced something similiar to this?

I bought a brand new iPhone 3GS at an ATT store in the states with international roaming enabled and brought it over to korea and when I landed at ICN it locked onto Sk Telecom instead of Kt telecom and I've been receiving international calls on it but whenever I check my bill it has no charges.

Does anyone else do international roaming and does yours go on KT or SK?

I understand Korea only uses up to 850mgz signal while other countries use 900 to 1600. Is this true? If so, this means a Korean phone can't be used outside of Korea regardless how you program it to unlock it's potential.

I talked to ATT when in Denmark, they told me because they get charged by the partner carrier, it takes longer for your bill to show up. It's coming. Hope you didn't jump the gun and have a hay-day!
