I know this has been asked before but I'm actually going to Korea for a summer camp, so can someone please kindly recommend how I can find honest employment for the Seoul area minus the recruiter??? Do I just knock around at schools or look in a phone book? Seriously, are there any pointers and so forth? I would appreciate it please. Also, I have all of my documents so I could show them if they would like. |

Unless you speak Korean and have connections, start using recruiters. They are your best connection to schools. Use many of them until you find what you are looking for.
The advantage of being in Korea is that you can actually interview in person and see the school and housing before you sign on the dotted line.

Thank you, and sometimes I wonder if they can still pull a "fast one" and after you sign, put you into different housing but maybe that's just me being paranoid.

Are you sure that isn't limiting? If I were to get a job on spec in Korea, I'd start hitting up Hakwons. Any one that couldn't understand "I'm looking for a job" will be nothing but trouble later on.
Go to a copy shop, print out your resume, put it together with copies of all your documents, and start crashing parties, is what I'd do. |

just reading this thread. I have gone with this guy James Jong. He's Korean but grew up in NYC for 25 years. He's straightforward with everything. you can send him your resume and picture and he will see to it that you get position that you like.
[email protected]
p.s. tell him that Nathan told you about him. He'll like that. |

if you're going for a summer camp chances are pretty good you won't be the only native speaking teacher there - just ask around and you'll find lots of suggestions, maybe even a job |
