| How about making it a rule that you HAVE to include the location the title? Can't believe this isn't a rule already, it everywhere else on the internet! C'mon admin, get involved! |

OP, quit your crying.
Korea's small... location isn't as big a deal for most people.
But moreover, most people live in Seoul anyways... not a big deal. If the product is unique and the buyer is outside Seoul, people will pay for delivery or travel to get it. Also, a number of people outside Seoul often travel to Seoul regularly, or sometimes, and can make the exchange in that way.
I want the best description of the product possible... I don't want to see SEOUL written in 75% of the message board topics.

Be nice Korean.
There's no reason to drag someone through the mud, simply because you disagree with them. |

Wow Korean, I think that ambition of yours is making you a pompous jerk. Most people live in Seoul? Get real.
I don't think OP wants to see Seoul written in 75% of message board topics either.. Seoul is a massive city. Neighbourhood or subway stop (if you're in Seoul) would be more appropriate. |

I agree.
I'd like to see the location (neighborhood/station) in the postings too. |

Allow me to retort.
Korea may be small but who wants to pay 100,000 to pick up a 10,000 won item? The point of the exercise is to save money and recycle things no longer needed.
Obviously 'most people' do not live in Seoul, although I would wager that you do, given your attitude.
And it isn't much of your life I concede, but when you have to do it every time, and given that it would take NO EFFORT just to pop the location in the title, why not do it? That way everyone can scan the list in seconds and see if there is anything in their local area they are interested in. It's just common sense on a classified section. Name me one other website that does not organise in location, or at least have location in the title? |

Virtually everything I sell on here is shipping only...so my location is irrelevant 95% of the time.
Folk are always trying to come up with more rules and regulations that Dave's ESL, a free internet forum, should implement or enact.
If I were to make a new rule, it would be that my IP address would be banned so that I would stop wasting so much of my time here |

I'll start the bidding at two cents for that rule. |

I don't get why so many of you guys got your panties in an uproar over a comment that most people live in Seoul.
First of all, roughly:
-40% of Korea lives in Seoul.
-60% of Korea lives in Kyunggi province, or however you spell it.
Fine, I was wrong. 75% was an exaggeration.... it was meant to prove a point. I should have typed 60%.
You want to sell to your biggest market. So why would someone just outside Seoul want to cut out the entire Seoul market?? If you live in Suwon, don't you want to sell to people in Seoul? If you live in Bundang, don't you want to sell to people in Seoul? etc etc.
So having to put an area is going to hurt all those people mentioned.
The commute to get from Seoul out to those areas, or from those aresa to Seoul, is relatively short, and the cost is minimal by subway. So basically 60% of the people are easily within the market of Seoul. That's why I made my statements...
If you lived "near Seoul"...I would still type Seoul if I wanted to make sure I could sell my product.
----------------
Kam1nsk1... you're right, the location helps. But I look at ads for products being sold, not necessarily where they are located. Many sellers state:
1) that they visit Seoul on weekends
2) might be visiting Seoul soon (in hopes of selling their product)
3) are willing to ship (just like Air said)
And no, I don't think a 100,000 won shipping fee for a 10,000 won item is realistic.
-----------------
You're correct, stating the location is a nice idea. But it doesn't have to be some policy where we state it in the title. If a seller doesn't want to post it, then won't it be his own demise if he possibly eliminates potential buyers.
However, space is limited in the topic line. I think most people would agree that if they had to choose when space was limited, describing the product would be considered more important than typing in the location. They can put it in the body of the original post.
------------------
Don't you think that putting the location in the topic-line could hurt people that want to ship their products?
If you see a location and it's not where you are from, you might not look at the ad. Is that fair to the seller? Maybe he wrote in his ad that he is willing to ship his product.
------------------
In the end, you agreed... you'll save the 10 seconds it takes for you to "click" the link, check the location, curse because the location isn't what you want, and then click "back" to go back to the main forum list.
Can I ask you though? Honestly, how many ads could you possibly be SERIOUS about buying on any one given day, that this would be a big problem?
If you like a product, check out the ad and see the location... if it's not near you, just click "back". It's no big deal, and certainly nothing that requires a new policy.
-------------------
Anyways, I haven't seen so many people cry over telling someone to quit crying.
The board ain't broke...no need to fix it.

Exactly...so if we do things your way, less people will look at each individual ad. It's better if everyone looks at the ad and then makes a decision. Your way makes it harder to sell the items... which... as you stated, is the point of this exercise. |

| Great... 10 bullet-points on why you're right, when the fact remains that your reply was bigoted and in bad form. It's a beautiful summer day. Go outside, get a life. |

| Depends on the item. I live in Bundang and I'm not traveling into central Seoul to buy a few dishes or a drying rack, but if I wanted a camera or something that I'd save enough money to make it worth going out of my way for, the location wouldn't matter so much. People should think about what they are selling and how best to market it. |
