Quote:
A seven-year-old boy was murdered by the Taleban in an apparent act of retribution this week. Afghan officials said that the child was accused of spying for US and Nato forces and hanged from a tree in southern Afghanistan.

Daoud Ahmadi, the spokesman for the provincial governor of Helmand, said that the killing happened days after the boys grandfather, Abdul Woodod Alokozai, spoke out against militants in their home village.

Mr Ahmadi said: His grandfather is a tribal elder in the village and the village is under the control of the Taleban. His grandfather said some good things about the Government and he formed a small group of people to stand against the Taleban. Thats why the Taleban killed his grandson in revenge.

Are you making a joke about a 7 year old child being hanged?

Apparently he is and thinks it's funny. At least he didn't use a smiley.

This reminds me of the scene in "The Boys from Brazil" where Mengele has the little boy servant executed because he is giving information to the Jewish investigators tracking his organization down. Hmmm......... Hey! wait a minute could thier personalities be somehow similar? Could they both be monsters?

Such a horrible tragedy perpetrated by Islamist thugs caught up in a medieval mindset acting on the say so of verses in the Koran.

It is just a matter of time until such crimes are being carried out in Europe. Already Europe has the 'honour' killings, genital mutilation, forced marriages, assassinations and various and sundry fatwas. Hanging little kids is right around the corner only a short distance from film makers being executed on the streets.

When it happens there will be legions of apologists like Djsmnc, tied in knots of political correctness and liberal guilt, who will justify it with statements like, 'Shouldn't have been working for the enemy.'

My best bet is that now that global warming has pretty much been discredited the new left/environmentalists will now glom onto Islam as their new cause celebre. Stand out of the way of the stampede to convert.

Hey, what else could I say? It's sick beyond belief, which is certainly the most obvious fact out there. I tried to join the military years ago, but was turned down due to a prior injury. I would love to take on the Taliban myself and have each and every one of them hung and beaten like pinatas, but I can't do much other than vote to prevent injustice and make asinine comments from behind a computer. Such is the way of life for some.

D-whatchamacallit may have a ribald sense of humor (as do I), but I don't think he was trying to make light of this particular event so much as he was commenting on the Taliban's tactics in Afghanistan.

Maybe I'm wrong, but either way people here should (IMO) get beyond their knee-jerk reactions. Hand-wringing and internet insults launched at D-Beef unfortunately won't be bringing that poor kid back.

I think any of us who has seen djsmnc post with any frequency should be able to realize that the kind of joke he made in this thread is just his own way of trying to deal with the horrific reality of the situation. I don't think he was belittling the tragedy, but rather expressing his outrage with regards to this situation in his own way by pointing out the utter absurdity of the situation.

So you'd like to do to them the same thing you now claim you are criticizing them for? Please remind me again, just how are you better than them?

I don't exactly mean that in a literal sense. To put it simply, I would like to see them eventually punished in some example-setting way for these types of insane crimes. Of course, the most important priority is to put to rest the ideologies that lead to this kind of violence in the first place. As Fox mentioned, the entire situation is absurd, as is pretty much every single thing the Taliban says, does, or represents. I don't think barbaric violence is going to solve anything (as it often fuels the ideologies), but I do believe that it appears to be the only thing the Taliban and other sicko fundamentalists are going to allow for.

A 7 year old boy being killed for spying is utterly ludicrous, though at the same time I wouldn't put it past the Taliban to be largely comprised of 7 year old soldiers who really do spy for whichever side promises them food, money, or an eternity of virgins. I wouldn't be shocked to discover that other 7 year olds hung the 7 year old. Therefore I made a ridiculous joke about an even more (and quite consistently) ridiculous situation.

Please show me the verse that says "and thou shallst hang 7 year olds from trees"

99% of muslims anywhere will be as shocked by this horrific act as you are. Why is this incident in the news? Because it's a regular muslim practice that happens every day?

You'll find horrific murders of young children perpetrated all over the globe. In Latin America in the 80s and 90s there were often horrific murders and mutilations of young children by guerillas or state militias. Not many muslims living there. And in Africa you can regularly hear of small kids being butchered in various places, including by protestant and catholic Africans.

Here, to illustrate the Latin American example:

Quote:
The record of horrors is all too full. In the Jesuit journal America, Rev. Daniel Santiago, a priest working in El Salvador, reported in 1990 the story of a peasant woman who returned home one day to find her mother, sister, and three children sitting around a table, the decapitated head of each person placed on the table in front of the body, the hands arranged on top "as if each body was stroking its own head." The assassins, from the Salvadoran National Guard, had found it hard to keep the head of an 18-month-old baby in place, so they nailed the hands to it. A large plastic bowl filled with blood stood in the center of the table.

The Culture of Fear

I read that more than 10 years ago, and that picture has sometimes strayed back to my mind. The horror the mother must have experienced on entering the room...

There's so many examples to choose from in non-Islamic Africa right now, that I was really spoilt for choice. I went with this one because it involves the murder of children by Christians:

Quote:
Mary was found by a British charity worker and today lives at a refuge in Akwa Ibom province with 150 other children who have been branded witches, blamed for all their family's woes, and abandoned. Before being pushed out of their homes many were beaten or slashed with knives, thrown onto fires, or had acid poured over them as a punishment or in an attempt to make them "confess" to being possessed. In one horrific case, a young girl called Uma had a three-inch nail driven into her skull.

Marie GloryYet Mary and the others at the shelter are the lucky ones for they, at least, are alive. Many of those branded "child-witches" are murdered - hacked to death with machetes, poisoned, drowned, or buried alive in an attempt to drive Satan out of their soul.

The devil's children are "identified" by powerful religious leaders at extremist churches where Christianity and traditional beliefs have combined to produce a deep-rooted belief in, and fear of, witchcraft. The priests spread the message that child-witches bring destruction, disease and death to their families. And they say that, once possessed, children can cast spells and contaminate others.

Killings for Christianity

Then there are the unnecessary deaths of 7 year old children that have regularly occured this century due to American/British warfare.

Sociopathy is not exclusive to Islam.
