why don't you ask your co-teacher or get somebody who speaks korean to help you? We are not your school administration so you need to talk to them directly to solve your problem. |
I am speaking with them, but I am not getting a straight answer. |

I can empathize with your situation.
Last year my co-teach would have done the same
If I were you, I'd book a new refundable ticket.
DONT PAY- just book it and print out the receipt, show it to the admin office.
Make it clear that you want that amt shown on YOUR E-TICKET
one of two things will happen.
The ticket they promised will appear
OR
They will pay for your ticket.
Don't let them @#$% with you over the flight and/or pay. They aren't going to push themselves to help you. Don't rely on them. |

I first want to say thanks for your response. As I said before my k teacher said June 10. I spoke with her today and layed the law down and told her it was rude to keep saying yes,yes as she was brushing me off. I told her she will give me answer today or I will bring another person into the office with me. She said that she will have an answer Tuesday. I backed up my request by saying if they (office) does not know ask them to call Gepik. My main question has been does the school have to request the money from Gepik and if so how long does it take Gepik to get the money to the school. |

No, money never has nor will it ever come from Gepik
The school has the money directly from the gov't.
Call your District coordinator, give her the lowdown. And have her talk to your co-teacher. You should have your flight details settled and paid for before you leave. |

Thanks! So are you saying the school has already had the money or do they need to request it from the government? |

The school should get ALL the funds for the foreign teacher's salary, books, airfare... in one lump sum at the beginning of the year.
Some principals though see this as a "slush fund" of sorts and may dip into it to "renovate the school" (a process which apparently involves drinking copious amounts of soju and eating large amounts of sam-gyap-sal).
So the money should have already come to the school long ago. |

I spoke with my k teacher and when I asked her if she got word from the office, she said something that sounded like dont worry they will get it. I said in a firm voice no that is not good enough when will I get my ticket. The teacher now responded by saying the agency(travel agency) should deliver it tomorrow. That could mean only one thing. I pushed them (office) and they realized they,1. would not have time make any extra money off the ticket or 2. they had to spend extra money out of their pocket because they spent it on something else. I am trying to keep the peace ,but I am getting tired of hearing from my teacher yes yes yes and do not worry. She sounds like a used cars salesman. I already told her no more of the yes and do not worryh. I told to say I do not know or this is the answer. |

Now, you gotta wait 'til tomorrow. What are you gonna do when you have nothing by tomorrow? |

^^ exactly what Ramen said.
Your co-teacher has told you "later, later" before for how long? Two weeks now?
Wow. Keeping the peace means eating dinner after your co-teach spat on it. You should hang your head in shame for a week
You are letting them play a big one on you. Certain questions you should ask: Who is this travel agent? What is taking them so long if they are professionals? Why not let me book the ticket myself and save the school some money?
Your co-teach doesn't give a Rat's @$$ about you leaving- she just knows you will be gone and is patiently going by the passive-aggressive playbook until you are out the door. Don't you realize all of this would have been solved if you didn't let them take control of your airline issue?
At least get the "travel agent's" card/phone number so you can try to regain what little control you (could have) had |
